Poetry type: List poem

A unrhymed poem consisting of lines which begin with the words, “I am the one....”


Directions: This poem should tell your real thoughts or feelings about yourself. Think about your place in your family, school, community, or world. Think about how you fit in. Start writing a list poem where each line begins with the words, “I am the one...”

Sample:
I am the one who always has to wash the dishes.
I am the one who always has to cook the meals.
I am the one who gets yelled at if the house is messy.
I am the one who has to get all her homework done.
I am the one who has to babysit my brothers.
I am the one who cries alone late at night.
I am the one whose mother died last spring.
