Memory Poem

Poetry type: Any

Directions:
Think about a special memory. It may be about a time you were sad, happy, proud, angry, frightened or confused. In any case, it should be about a event that you remember clearly, and with emotion. Write a poem about this memory.
It may rhyme or be unrhymed, although unrhymed usually works best. Describe the memory using imagery, metaphor, simile and other poetic techniques. You may want to include your thoughts about the memory.

Sample:
My friend in band
Sat next to me
First Chair, First Clarinet
I was second chair
And wanted to be first

I practiced hard
And practiced long
Until one Day
I challenged him
and became first chair

Eight years later
The newspaper said
My friend was dead
Shot by a thief
In the night

I think of my clarinet
lying cold and still
upon the shelf
And I wonder
Why I wanted to be first chair
So badly
