Point of View Poem

Poetry type: Free Verse or Rhyme

Directions:
Choose an object. Write a poem about life from the point of view of that object. What is this object like? What angers or frustrates this object. What makes this object happy? What are the dreams or goals of this object? The poem could make a commentary about life-- perhaps the poet’s own life.

Sample:
The Lamp

I sit upon this table
Waiting all day
Waiting for someone,
Anyone,
To click the switch
That will allow me
To light the world,
To shine,
So that others
Will be guided
By my
Brightness.
