RAP

Poetry type: Rap

Directions:
Write a poem with a very strong rhythm. It may be about any subject. It should sound especially good when read out loud to a background rhythm. Raps written in school should adhere to the school’s policy on language and subject matter.

Sample:
Do your homework, do it right,
And make darn sure, that it’s done right,
I say hey, hey, I say it twice,
Do it or you’ll pay the price.
Take some notes, write it all down,
Do it now without a sound!
‘Cause I’m a rap, rap, rapping Mr. G,
And you better not try to mess with me!

I say hey, hey, what did you say?
Someone threw your work away?
I say hip, hop, I’ll call your pop,
So all these excuses better stop.
I say hop, hip, don’t give me lip!
Don’t you try to give me the slip!
‘Cause I’m a rap, rap, rapping Mr. G,
And you better not try to mess with me!

I’m smart and cool, I’m nobody’s fool,
I’m not some sort of ancient ghoul,
I am here because of you,
I believe in what you do,
I know you’re smart, I know you can,
That’s why to you, I am the man!
“Cause I’m a rap, rap, rapping Mr. G,
And you better not try to mess with me!
