Song

Poetry type: Song

Directions:
Write a poem using several verses. It is recommended that a key verse be repeated several times during the poem. This key verse would be called the “Chorus.”
The poem may be about anything. It will usually have a strong rhythm pattern and in most instances have rhyme.

Sample:
When I was just a little boy
My family would go to the park
I’d take a ride on the carousel
The carousel in the park
I’d laugh and play the whole day through
On that carousel in the park
Then my parents would say, “Son, it’s time to go,
The day is growing dark.”

Chorus Let me keep riding the carousel
Just let me ride one more time
‘Cause I am still reaching for the ring of the world
And all I need is more time.
Let me keep riding the carousel
Just let me ride one more time
I know if I ride it just long enough
The ring of the world will be mine.

Now that I’m getting on in life
I sometimes go to the park
I look at the kids on the carousel
The carousel in the park.
I watch them play the whole day through
On that carousel in the park
And think of the life that I used to know
With my dad and my mom in the park.

Repeat Chorus
