Nothing But a Dream Beauty found than lost in a blink So close, yet so far away. Fingertips touching but only just barely Lightly grazing the skin. An eternal gesture full of yearning A burning need all consuming Bereft of any understanding Losing oneself in the unending battle Wishing that you could turn away Praying that she wont Hoping that he can’t Knowing that your heart could be broken Not able to stop or even hide it Shocking isn’t it, how much you want this Terrifying how deep you need his love Petrifying to think she’s just playing a game Loneliness swallowing your soul Darkness so deep and filled with despair, sucking you in. Struggling with all our might to fend each other off Trying to keep you at arms length one moment pure torment Wanting to embrace you the next so tenderly Not knowing which way to go, or even how things will fall Just knowing it feels right, When we’re together, No more fight to be complete Finding a peace that is abounding A love that is so dazzling it blinds me Can we overcome our disjointed nightmares? Clawing my way out, to the top. Standing there bruised and shaking, Wondering if this is it Could I finally have a chance, Or is this nothing but a dream? 7/21/98 NChantrss
