All of us has a "spy within the ranks" our flesh

We usually assign these traits to unbelievers but Paul was writing to believers about believers

What is ''the flesh" and "sin nature"
The flesh is that which desires sloth, wants to fail; wants the foulness of sin

What is spirit - the part of us that part of us that wants to serve God

How can we fight the flesh?
V 16 walk in (the) spirit = operate spiritually

We are faced throughout the day from when we wake to when we sleep at night with choices to choose the way of the flesh or to choose the way of a spiritual response

Paul commands to walk by spirit and tells me that doing so I will not carry out the desire of the flesh
