David is very very concerned that God have a dwelling place among His people David has a burden for this.
v11-13 God made the promise to David that his descendants be a 'house' would be established forever

The more God blesses David the more David serves him and the more David serves God the more God blesses David

7:18-23 David is a Man of Prayer
David remains humble even though he was very blessed by God

8:1-15 David is a Man of Progress
David expanded faster than any king in history

5:13-16 David is just a Man with Passions
Even though this in these verses was "the custom of the day" David is bringing on himself more grief and heartache than he will know what to do with
