Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for
men.
(Colossians 3:23 NIV)
It takes Almighty God Incarnate in you to peel potatoes properly, and to wash heathen
children for the glory of God. Anyone cannot do these things; anybody can do the shining n
the sun and the sporting in the footlights, but it takes God's Incarnated Spirit to make
you so absolutely humanly His that you are utterly unnoticeable.

"So the people grumbled...saying, `What are we to drink?'" (Exodus
15:24).
It isn't only water that can be brackish; we humans can become quite distasteful when both
major and minor irritations upset us. The people thought the fault belonged with Moses
because he persuaded them to leave Egypt.
We are masters at blaming others for our problems. Perhaps it is our attitude that needs
adjustment (someone calls this another AA). We may have to drink the bitter waters of
life. Let us pray that we do not become embittered by the experiences. "My Father, if
it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will"
(Matthew 26:39).

"There fell down many slain, because the war was of God." - 1 Chronicles 5:22
|
"Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not." - Numbers 11:23 |
The Lord saveth not by many nor by few; it is ours to go forth in Jehovah's name if we be but a handful of men, for the Lord of Hosts is with us for our Captain. |
If he speaks, it is done--done by himself. His promises do not depend for their fulfilment upon the co-operation of the puny strength of man. |

But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.

If there is any place we would sincerely not want to be and stay, it is the place "where He is not." And where is the the place He is not? It is the place He JUST was. Then are we staying? We cling and stay, and the same while He is risen and on the move. He wants a fresh encounter. He goes on before (28:7) with the promise to us of meeting up with Him as we move forward and do not stay at the place He just was. We cling though, thinking there is sanctuary in staying where He just was: the place, the posture, the mood, only this time at our control. He has gone on ahead. Let us not fear the risk of fresh encounter. The women were permitted to look, "See the place where He was laid..." (vs 6), but all too briefly, "GO quickly...behold He goes before you...there you shall see Him" (7). It is the faith that we shall see the alive Christ still moving ahead that will remove us from securing a lingering at the place we last beheld Him. Let us have that type of faith.
