The Daily Miscellany Times Mozart Dead at 35December 5, 1791 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died of kidney failure on this
day in 1791 (December 5). Mozart died at one o'clock in the morning. His friend Sussmayr
wrote that shortly before Mozart had leafed through his own Requiem and said, ``Didn't I
tell you I wrote this for myself?'' Mozart was only 35 years old. He was just at the
height of his creative genius. He had money problems during much of his musical career. He
died as a pauper with only the gravedigger attending his burial in a Viennese suburb. Sources: Sources: Comptons Encyclopedia, On this Day |
