But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.

The Feet of Prayer

by Cathy Vinson

Every place that the sole of your feet will tread upon I will give you, as I said to Moses," spoke God to Joshua (Josh 1:3). Since that promise and the subsequent fall of the fortified walls of Jericho, there has been a precedent tapped into by God's people. It is stirring hearts today. It is praying onsite with insight--prayerwalking. Prayerwalking is "praying in the very place in which you expect your prayers to be answered."

God told captive Israel in Babylon to "seek the peace of the city WHERE I HAVE CAUSED YOU TO BE CARRIED AWAY captive, and pray to the Lord for it" (Jer 29:7). That location for their location carried significance. Just dwelling there opened up for them a spiritual authority in the land. A relationship between territoriality (dwelling there) and God's authority for that region existed.

Where are you dwelling? Where are you employed? Where is it that God has "caused you to be?" "Seek the peace of the city...pray to God for it." Recognize that you have a lever of territorial authority in your prayers for it.

Do you walk or take outings? Then consider walking and praying in the profound steps of Joshua.

"You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last" (John 15:16)

"Every place that the sole of your feet will tread upon I will give you, as I said to Moses,"

(Josh 1:3)

Prayerwalking is "praying in the very place in which you expect your prayers to be answered."
