But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.
Job 16:5 (NIV)
Reunion by Cathy Vinson |
And I knew our joy would fill the earth...and last until the end of time. In 1972 these words began to be sung to the world. Mysteriously they had something to say to the lover of God as they excellently extolled intimate love in human romance. "...I am going to the Father" (John 14:12b). If we listened to these words, our hearts would similarly quicken, for they are even more true and lasting...and wonderful! The most beautiful love of all, Father and Son, has met its truest realized reunion. And it is forever. It will never end. What will come of it? Their joy shall fill the earth: greater works than these (Christ's earthly works) will now be done. Jesus, the Risen, is now WITH the Father, and their joy cannot be contained within them alone. It is only waiting to overflow.... Spilling into answers to our prayers. That cup is tipping, waiting to be poured out onto the earth. Jesus LONGS to delight His Father. Our prayers give Him great chances. He says to us to come ask Him anything, "and I WILL DO IT...so that the Son may bring glory to the Father" (John 14:14,13). Seeing His Son's signature and exploits delights the Father. (For what father can resist in seeing his son do all he is capable of?) As His body, we are what is still left wanting in this reunion. The celebration has already begun. Although we are separated physically, we are not lacking in Christ's desire to unleash His joy upon us. Praise the Lord for His wonderful ways! He's with the Father giving us every invitation to join in and glorify Father. We can even join the fanfare by asking. Come, let us ask the Risen Lord for great and marvelous things!! |
