But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.

Job 16:5 (NIV)

Why Comes Victory?

by Cathy Vinson

Why is victory given? We would so like to think our worth or strength enters into it. My bow, my strength, my sword... "No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength" (Ps 33:16)

So what does God make of our worth and strength? It is excluded. God provided that which causes us to look up to Him and become a worshipper.

What determines victory? "Not their sword...nor their arm...It was the light of Your face, for You loved them" (Ps 44:3). God loves. He chooses to. Isn't this better than looking to ourselves?

"You are my God and King, who decrees victories..." (vs 4). He decreed it! Again we are drawn away to the rapture of our great God and His sovereign ways.

He is making worshippers out of us yet.

God provided that which causes us to look up to Him and become a worshipper.
