Ellen Gould White is a prime
candidate. She made many false prophecies which did not come true, and
she persisted, as have some of her followers,
to confirm what she had said. Many of her writings have been 'edited' by
others at a later date so some of the later writings may not agree with
the
earlier versions word for word.
"I also saw that Old Jerusalem would never be built
up."
Early Writings Pg 75.
Hmmm, looks to me like Old Jerusalem has been built up.
One false prophecy makes a false prophet.
Mrs White said she would
be alive when Jesus returns...
"Soon our eyes were drawn to the East, for a small black cloud had
appeared, about half as large as a man's hand, which we all knew was the
sign of the Son of Man...we were changed and caught up together with
them to meet the Lord in the air."
Early Writings pg 15-16.
Hmmm, the Lord has not returned. Is Mrs White still alive?
One false prophecy makes a false prophet.
Mrs White said in May of
1856 that some of those listening to her will live
to see the return of Jesus...
Some of those that were attending a meeting with her would become food
for worms, and some would live to become subjects of the seven last
plagues, and some others would "remain upon the earth to be translated
at the coming of Jesus."
Testimonies for the Church, vol 1, pg 131-132.
Hmmm, that statement was made over 140 years ago. Has Jesus come yet?
Are any of those at that 1856 meeting still alive?
One false prophecy makes a false prophet.
Great happenings were to
come to fruition at the end of the 2300 days,
which was in October of 1844. What were these great events? Why did they
not happen?
The Great Controversy, pg 421-422
One false prophecy makes a false prophet.
There are many more false
prophecies that Mrs White has made,
but I think I have made my point.
Not only did Mrs White make false prophecies, but she
actually changed,
or added to Holy Scripture to boot...
"Every word of GOD is tried by fire...add
not anything to His Words,
lest you be reproved, AND FOUND A LIAR." Proverbs 30:5-6
"God is either teaching His church,
reproving their wrongs and
strengthening their faith, or He is not.
This work is of God, or it is not.
God does nothing in partnership with Satan.
My work for the past thirty years bears the stamp of God
or the stamp of the enemy.
There is no halfway work in the matter.
The Testimonies are of the Spirit of God, or of the
devil.
In arraying yourself against the servants of God you are doing a work
either for God or for the devil."
-- Testimonies, Vol. 4, p. 230.
E.G. White
Thank you Mrs. E.G. White, I could
not have said it better myself.
Well, I have saved the best for last!
Seventh Day Adventists call E.G. White a prophet.
She could not possibly be a prophet, for Holy Scripture says that Jesus
Christ was the last prophet.
"In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors
through the prophets;
in these last days, he spoke to us through a son,
whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe,..."
Hebrews 1:1-2
"In giving us his Son, his only Word (for he possesses no other),
he spoke everything to us at once in this sole Word - and he has no more
to say. . . because what he spoke before to the prophets in parts, he has
now spoken all at once by giving us the All Who is His Son. Any person
questioning God or desiring some vision or revelation would be guilty not
only of foolish behaviour but also of offending him, by not fixing his
eyes entirely upon Christ and by living with the desire for some other
novelty."
St. John of the Cross, The Ascent of Mount Carmel 2, 22, 3-5
"If I had two souls, I could gamble one, but since
I have only one,
I must save it."
Saint Thomas More...
