1. Chronological order is I Timothy, Titus, II Timothy
2. Paul was release from Caesarea.
3. Attestation and Authorship
a. His terminology is different here because of the different subject. Some of the words in these Books were only used by Paul one time, and this is one of the objections by critics.
b. Ecclesiological objection - he wrote to different church organizations. The bishop is just another term for pastor or elder.
c. Another objection was that he wrote these during a two year imprisonment in Rome.
d. Clement of Rome is early attestation and very adequate.
4. The background is from the Book of Acts.
5. After Caesarea, he went to Spain and ended up at Rome. It looks like he also went to Crete, about 54-56AD, after the date of the Book of Acts.
6. These books were probably written about 64-66AD, when Paul died.
7. The Book of Titus was written about the same time as I Timothy.
