1. What are the three major views of the Millennium? The Amillennium believes that the Millennium is not a literal earthly reign by Jesus but that it is only symbolic. The Postmillennium view believes that the people of the earth will get better and better and that Jesus will come to earth and set up His kingdom. The Premillennium view suggests that people will get worse and worse, that the Christians will be taken out of the earth, that there will be a seven-year period of Tribulation, and then that Christ will return to earth and set up His literal, earthly kingdom.
2. What does the term millennium mean? Millennium means one thousand years.
3. List some of the characteristics (not all) of the Millennial period. The Temple will be rebuilt, Israel will be returned to their land, they will recognize their Messiah, they will be cleansed, regenerated, and once again related to God by marriage, and they will be exalted over Gentiles. They will become God’s witnesses, Christ will rule over Jerusalem with David under him as a vice-regent, all sickness will be removed, man’s longevity will be restored, there will be universal peace and universal holiness, there will be a unified language, and the original curse upon Creation will be neutralized.
4. List some of the purposes that God intends to accomplish during the Millennium. God will honor His promises to Abraham. He will give rewards. Isaiah 40:10 says "Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him." His kingdom will be an answer to the Lord’s Prayer, "Thy kingdom come." He will redeem creation, rebuild the Temple, keep His covenants with Abraham (Genesis 12:3) and David (II Samuel 7:16). He will effect the ministry of Christ.
5. How will the Millennial Kingdom be developed? Satan will be restrained (Revelation 20:1-3), there will be a universal king, and Palestine and Jerusalem will become prominent. Ezekiel 37:25 says that "they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever." Zechariah 14:16 says that "it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles." Nature will be redeemed, righteousness will be supreme, and the earth will be a desirable place to live.
