1. What miracles are unique to John? Why does he include these when the other writers left them out? John wrote about turning the water into wine, the healing of the nobleman's son, the healing of the lame man, the healing of the blind man, the raising of Lazarus, and the miraculous catch of fishes. John wrote selectively, so he did not try to include everything. He wrote his gospel last, so he also probably wanted to include some of the significant miracles not already mentioned. His purpose was to help people believe and find life.
2. What discourses are unique to John? How do these discussions help to further the purpose of John? John wrote about Jesus and His discussions with Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, and with His enemies at the Feast of Tabernacles. John also wrote about Jesus and his discussions about the three resurrections and four witnesses and about Himself as the Bread of Life, the Good Shepherd, and the Vine and the branches. Jesus told His disciples about His going away, His coming again, and about their not being troubled. John wrote about the Holy Spirit as Comforter and as Jesus' priestly prayer.
3. Witness is one of the key words of John. In chapters 1-4, which feature the interviews of Jesus, who is included? The seven witnesses in the first four chapters are John the Baptist, Andrew, Philip, Nathanael, Mary, Nicodemus, and the woman at the well.
4. What are the seven indications of the deity of Christ? John showed Jesus to be equal with God. His deity was witnessed to by John the Baptist, His works, the Father, and the Scriptures. John wrote about the seven "I am's." John wrote about Jesus and the Father as One. John wrote about Jesus' public miracles. He wrote about the Triumphant entry and the message of His Word.
5. What are the seven new things in chapters 13-15? John wrote about love, home, comforter, indwelling, peace, joy, and relationship.
