Animated GIFs

An animated GIF is basically a small collection of GIFs that are "flipped through" to give the illusion of movement. To put the individual static GIFs (or cels) together, you can use any of a number of animated GIF construction tools.

Alchemy Mindworks' GIF Contruction Set is a powerful and fairly easy-to-use GIF animator. Ulead GIFAnimator is another powerful yet easy-to-use animator (and there's a free "lite" version). And there's no need for PSP users to purchase a separate GIF animation program at all, since there's now Jasc's own Animation Shop, bundled with PSP 5 and above (also available separately).

Once you have an animated GIF construction tool, you can start experimenting. Here's a version of the first animated GIF I ever tried:

cheshire cat
8 shades of gray, 12K

The next example is a little more complex, but not much more:

bouncing ball
32 colors, 9K
