the little-boy eyes
widen with wonder
as he looks at the tree.lights reflect in
the little-boy eyes,
making them shine
more brilliantly.the little-boy eyes
take in all -
the fireplace,
stocking hanging heavy
with candy --
the tree,
candy canes and
gingerbread men on
the branches --
and the presents,
some wrapped, while
others left by "Santa."the little-boy eyes close
as the man yawns
and goes back to bed -until the morning, when
the little-boy eyes
of his son
will widen with wonder
as he looks at the tree....
