PAGE EIGHT
1. Bob asks: What do you think of the possibility that you (Barrie) are being a bit "fixated" on your son's demise (or his loss, or both)?
Barrie Responds:
I appreciate your care and concern about me and my feelings. Yet, of course, I can only tell you how I believe I feel...or how I feel I feel...or how I feel--for they are all the same thing. It is up to you to draw your own conclusions if you believe I am "fixated" or not.
So, that being said, let me try to respond to your observation as best as I can...
You call my son's "death" -- a "demise" or a "loss" -- in regard to my experience of it. It's the use of those terms and terms like it...that I find holds people back when it comes to the topic of "death" -- and keeps those "left behind" in fear and pain. As I see it, there is no "demise," and hence there is no "loss." But it is these very terms that our ego-self or waking-self uses (at first) when confronting the issue of death.
The ego deals with what it knows from the perspective it knows it. What the ego knows is physical reality--and it has its reactions to physical events based on its unique but limited perspective of those events.
Yet, we as physical beings are more than just the waking-self; and the ego is but one focal perspective of the whole self that we truly are. As you know, all "parts" of the self do share their perspectives with each other--altho much of this communication remains in the subconscious, as far as the ego is concerned.
The ego naturally fears that which threatens its world view or perspective; and that which it can't understand. The "power" of this fear varies from person to person and day to day...depending upon how much "subconscious" or inner-self communication is remembered or "bleeds thru" to the waking consciousness or ego self.
The more a physical person is aware of the "inner" realities and is comfortable within himself with the differences between the inner & outer realms as regards to physics and what is real & what is possible--then the less that person's waking-self feels threatened by his inner experiences--and the "weaker" is the natural fear that is felt by the ego (boy, that was quite a mouthful).
But only until the ego actually takes on the full perspective of the inner self--it will always dip its feet into various degrees of "fear" when dealing with the inner realms. Sometimes the fears will be strong (during moments of less understanding or less memory of inner awarenesses) and other times the fears will be weak or nonexistent. Many people feel this "ego-fear" when they become consciously aware that they are beginning an out-of-body experience.
Many people feel this fear when it comes to the subject of "death"; for one of the major "issues" which crosses over the imagined boundaries between the inner and outer realms is the concept and "occurrence" of "death." It is something we all have to "face" and deal with in some way.
As it is, I have always been interested in, thinking about, and conscious of "death" since I was a little boy. Perhaps it is one of the major issues I have brought with me into this lifetime. Death...and separation.
Besides bringing it with me into this lifetime--this lifetime, alone, has provided sufficient cause to think about death. Being born in 1950, I spent many formative years within the cultural atmosphere of the possibility of nuclear war and the "demise" of my self and the whole planet...as perceived by the 7-year-old me back in 1957.
So, perhaps it may be said that I have been "fixated" on death my whole life...but only to the degree that it has always been a concept I have found intriguing, important and worthy of exploration.
Reading the "Bridey Murphy" book, the "Trial and Death of Socrates," Campbell's "Hero With a Thousand Faces" (just to name a few) all aided me on my inner quest or thirst for knowledge, insight or understanding on the topic of death...all of which preceded my introduction to Seth's material in 1972.
Besides my reading of other works, I have added to my "quest" my own original thinking, writing, thoughts and concepts as well...and all these musings and readings and ongoing inner explorations were well at work within me and ongoing before my son entered my life in 1971; and they all continue past his "death" to this present day.
My son's "death" has aided me on my "quest" to explore the concepts of death and separation. It probably was a part of his choice to be born to me and my choice to "agree" to the birth.
So you see, the simple observation of any "fixation" on my part on my son's "death" does not find an equivalent simple slot to fit into my life. His life & "death" are a part of the whole process of this issue...as are all the occurrences which happen to me and around me.
Therefore, and to summarize now, as a physical person with my ego-self or physical-self, I try to enjoy the flux of feelings concerning "death" and my son's "death"--as it varies as my recollections of my inner awareness and journeys ebb and flow from day to day.
What does remain constant, tho, when it comes to "death" and my son's "death" are my feelings that "death" brings no end, and communication indeed continues; and all of the reincarnational and simultaneous Seth stuff remains intact.
For whenever I do try to honestly think of any alternative explanations that I've read or heard, they always fall far short of being true (to me) and ring no inner bells, so to speak.
2. Questman Asks: "One puzzle to me is if consciousness is an energy field, why does it only interact one consciousness to one human body?"
Barrie Responds:
It doesn't...there are infinite number of consciousnesses interacting with one human body...altho one consciousness may create the one human body so that it has a "vehicle" to use on the physical plane.
The human body does not exist independently from the consciousness that creates it. It IS that consciousness making itself physical to interact on the physical plane.
But this vehicle is also a portal to the "inner" realms--where time is simultaneous and the self or consciousness has access to all of "its" probable personalities, dream personalities, imagination personalities, alternate personalities, etc etc etc. Each personality is another consciousness. And each of these have their own dreams & probables, etc, and the consciousnesses are ever unfolding & unblossoming infinitely. The only difference is that they are not physicalized or actualized on the physical plane. Yet, they are as real as that which is actualized on the physical plane.
From their point of view, what we perceive as physical--is an invisible probable reality. And we learn equally from them all...and they are "pool" of inner awareness which we use to choose what we actualize physically.
It is my own personal theory that the "expanding" universe is actually the "bleed thru" from the inner realms...of this ever-expanding unfoldment of selves...and that stars are how our inner selves and the energy it produces "bleeds thru" onto the physical plane; and quasars are how our oversouls and the energy it produces "bleeds thru" onto the physical plane. In fact, the "deeper" in one's subconscious an inner activity occurs, the more "distant" appears its physical manifestation.
And remember, and I believe this is unnecessary to say, but I repeat from time to time--All you say is equal to what I say. Hold no one above you or below you...and that goes for me or anyone else. As Walt Whitman wrote: "Take off your hat to no man or number of men...Forget what you have been taught in school and in church...and your very own flesh shall become a great poem."
And...as Seth has often told class members...and I pass it on: "You are good; you have a right to be happy; and you have a right to your place in the universe. If anyone makes you feel otherwise, you have a right to turn and run or walk away from that person or group."
3. Questman Asks: "A radio program can be received by innumerable radio receivers, and radio receivers can be tuned to any of many stations. Is there a similar action between consciousnesses and human bodies?"
Barrie Responds:
Yes...infinite stations...each star is another station....
4. Questman Asks: "Another thing I contemplate is why, no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to change the nature of the reality I have been living in. Is creation caused/initiated solely by the deepest levels of the subconscious, impervious to the conscious mind itself?"
Barrie Responds:
How would you define the "nature" of the reality you create and wish to change? Then, the next question is, "What are you 'getting' out of this reality and creation that you believe you don't want? For you are creating just what you want to create...the questions are why? And what would you like to replace it with...and why?
Creation is not impervious to the conscious mind. What is important is the strength of the belief in question. If you hold a very strong belief on the subconscious level; you won't change it...simply by wishing or hoping to replace it with a weaker belief you don't really believe more strongly.
Yet, the conscious mind can come up with strong beliefs...which are stronger than the one's held in the subconscious...and then those beliefs will be manifested.
If you believe you believe one thing...but yet something else is happening...then you have conflicting beliefs...and you also have the "tools" to make them end the conflict...and that is your conscious mind working intandem with your inner self...or selves...or subconscious mind, etc...
How may you accomplish this? Via paying attention to your dreams, asking questions in a dream notebook by the bed--and then writing down the dreams that you remember that night--even if you think they have nothing to do with your question or anything...and do this nightly; pay attention to fleeting thoughts and images that seem to "sneak into your mind like thieves in the day or night" (as Seth has said); use your own introspection as you pose questions to yourself; try automatic writing....
Your goal is to discover which believes are holding you "back" from your point of view...while realizing there is no "back" to be held.
Also, one other method may work...if you allow it to...and it bypasses all this "inner" work. Take the belief you have and don't like...and replace it with its opposite. You must believe this will work...and visualize your thoughts and beliefs as furniture in your living room...which you can throw out and replace with new ones...or any other such symbolic images...
But, throughout all this, rest assured you are getting just what you desire...all the time...and trust yourself to do "conjure" up the right things for yourself...
5. Questman Asks: "When I close my eyes at night I sometimes try very hard to really SEE another reality. It doesn't happen..."
Barrie Responds:
I know what you mean...it doesn't work that way tho...its not a physical seeing or a physical concentrating...Its more like a relaxing and letting go and opening up...so that "it" comes to you...instead of "you" (the physical you) going to it.
Each night you visit these realms...each day you visit these realms...each secondless-second you visit these realms...we all do. So its not really a question of "seeing" it; but rather its a question of remembering what you have "seen." Or allowing your ego-self or waking-self to open up to communication from your inner self, so to speak. I imagine that "concentration" of the ego-self may "block" messages from the inner self...and that calmness and relaxation is what opens the waking-self up to these communications.
Happy questions and questings...
6. Todd Asks (on the Afterlife board): "Where do new souls come from? Sometimes I wonder if all the barbaric crimes we read about in the paper are committed by "new souls" who are experiencing being physical beings for the first time and who get overcome by their animal impulses. Maybe it takes a few lifetimes to develop control, or something like that. Also, one of my assumptions is that there are other habitable planets besides Earth out there that one could incarnate on if one wanted to. We choose Earth and human form because we like it here and are invested in making it better. We want the "project" to evolve and grow."
Barrie Responds:
There are no new souls or old souls. Such concepts as "old" or "new" or "beginnings" and "endings" have to do with our linear perception of time.
For an analogy, how many portions of your yourself can you send forth via your imagination into a game as you imagine yourself playing the sports game that you are watching on TV?
Is the imaginary self you send forth in the 9th inning any "newer" or less-experienced than the imaginary self you put into a situation in the 1st inning? Is there a limit to the number of "selves" you can thus send forth into the game situation at any point? No.
Souls are consciousness...they have created the Earth and their various physical bodies to inhabit--from an inner, invisible realm of electromagnetic consciousness which exists beyond linear time...all around us. We are them.
The souls (ourselves) send forth portions of themselves (ourselves) in physical bodies and into various potential situations set up and created to experience the full range of emotions and feelings and the choices which arise from those emotions & feelings & experiences--on the physical plane.
Altho we enter our infant bodies into a situation agreed to beforehand, there is no predestination--because all involved in the decision (you & your parents & relatives) all have free will--and will use the original "setting" to learn & experience. Your choices come from your total free will; and you are bound to make no choice other than the one you choose--however you choose it--in your perceived, conscious present.
Yet, contact with the inner realm is never lost. Communication occurs regularly & nightly and daily; while both awake and asleep. This communication can guide you (or, in other words, you can guide yourself--via your memories or intuitions caused by these inner journeys or changes of focus.
These communications occur during a shift of focus--when our entire bodies "blink" out of physical reality & into the inner realm--so fast that we cannot consciously perceive it. And, this communication occurs in common altered states like the dream state; the day dream state, OOB state, etc.
From the point of view of our waking selves--we are always here, on the physical plane; except when we sleep (altho we acknowledge that our bodies are still physical, so to speak).
From the point of view of the inner self--we are always in the "inner" realm--creating and sending forth our bodies & physical reality--and shifting our focus (our ego-related self) back on the physical plane; and "retrieving" or interacting with the outer-self as it "reports" back--or switches its focus during its inner visits.
These physical bodies are sent out in various time periods. Altho to us the time periods seem separate and occur on a timeline; from the souls' perspective all the lives being lived on the time line are happening simultaneously.
Any soul can create a personality and put it in a situation wherein it may murder or kill...for each personality has total free will.
Personalities who are more in touch or in tune with the inner, spiritual realms from which they (& all of us) originated themselves from--would be much more compassionate, loving, humorous people. They would not be an "older" soul-- like an "old" soul -- but they would be in touch with their ageless or beyond-time spiritual origins. Or, in other words, they would have forgotten less or remembered more about their inner selves.
About Earth--we did more than choose it--we create it enmasse each microsecond. We create all of physical reality with the vast energy of our inner selves and oversouls.
Besides our "creations" (like the pen, the room, the chair), much of "outer space" contains or exists of "bleed-thrus" of our inner experiences, beings and energy. For example, stars are the physical manifestation of the energy of our inner selves; and quasars are the physical bleed-thru manifestations of our Oversouls.
In other words, outer space is what inner space looks like when it bleeds thru into or onto our physical realm or plane.
Well, that's all for now...I hope I have spurred some interest and debate and inner probings...
7. Questman Asks: "Here we are as human beings, which are but tiny pinpoint spots on an Earth planet that is but a tiny pinpoint in a solar system that is but a tiny pinpoint in a galaxy that is but a tiny pinpoint in a galaxy cluster that is but a pinpoint in a galaxy super-cluster that is but a pinpoint in a seemingly endless, infinitive universe. With that point-of-view in mind, what percentage of all there is to possibly know can we actually possibly know? I have frequent clashes between the single-human POV and the external-to-the-universe POV. When we consider how truly tiny and insignificant we are in relation to the total universe, things get very disheartening. So how do we adjust to this knowledge of relationship of scale sizes? Perhaps man was better off when he had less knowledge? Perhaps we should settle for knowing we are insignificant in relation to all-there-is, put that knowledge on a back shelf in a back closet and get on with life?"
Barrie Responds:
You are forgetting that the whole universe stems from within. We are not separate from the Earth and the galaxies...but they spring forth from us.
As Emerson said, "The universe is a manifestation of the Soul." The "deeper" into the subconscious you go; the further away from Earth is the physical manifestation of the event. There is an intimate connection between the inner realms and deep space.
The energy of our inner selves "bleeds thru" into physical reality as "stars." Stars are still, physically speaking, composed of just what the scientists say they are--gaseously and chemically speaking. Yet, this physical existence is a bleed-thru manifestation of the energy of our inner selves. In the same manner, quasars are the way our Whole Selves appear in the physical dimension.
Let me give you a quick definition of these terms as I see them. But, remember, there is no real separation of the selves:
1. Waking Self, Conscious Self, Ego Self--that's us, our conscious personalities focused in this time period...eating pizza and late for work and curious about death, etc, and the next date we go on.
2. Personal Subconscious Self--This is the self that focuses in on the personal subconscious which deals with the physical events of the personality or ego-self. The waking and personal subconscious come into existence with the new birth. It is from the personal subconscious that dream & probable selves spring forth. This self is a "portal" to other dimensions or selves.
3. Inner Self--Each person has an "inner self" which resides in the deeper subconscious (not the personal subconscious). The inner self is connected, not only with the personal subconscious of the waking self, but to all the inner selves of all the dream & probable selves connected to the waking self. Also, intercommunication occurs between the "inner selves" of all incarnations-- past, present and future--as well as with each particular waking self of the body used. The inner self and its information is brought with us from birth...and all inner selves have access to the "store house" of ongoing information as it continues to grow in each incarnation's inner self.
4. The Whole Self--This Self, deep within our subconscious, has the full awareness or consciousness of all the above selves. It is the Self from which all of our inner selves and incarnations have originated. It has full, conscious awareness and knowledge of all inner selves, probable selves, dream selves, and waking selves--of all of its incarnations.
Put it this way:
The Whole Self has a portion of it which focuses on each of its incarnations--and reports back to the Whole Self. This is the 'inner self" of each incarnation or person. The inner self is aware of the infinite dream and probable selves of that one incarnation. It also has access or communication with the inner selves of other incarnations and their dream & probable selves. The waking or ego selves are that part of the Whole Self which focus solely on the physical-side of the time period its body is living in. This ego self--thru its experiences--creates or sends forth its dream selves and probable selves.
Now, all the dream selves & probable selves--live their own full lives--and from their POV--have their own inner selves & dreams & dream selves & probable selves, etc. The "inner self" of each incarnation has access to all of the experiences of all its probable & dream selves--for each incarnation shares the same inner self with all of its dream & probable selves.
Yet, remember, at all times, there is no separation. We are part of the Whole Self. We, in effect, have sent forth ourselves.
In any case, we are not tiny, insignificant "dots" in a vast universe. We are, each of us, vast, breathing networks from which the vast physical universe springs forth. It cannot exist without us, consciousness. Consciousness can exist without it. It is simply the physical manifestation of consciousness and Self. Its the same with our physical bodies--they can't exist without consciousness creating it; yet the consciousness can & does exist without the physical body. In other words, the universe is the physical body of all our souls.
To address your feelings of insignificance as compared to the vastness of the universe, I'd like to use an analogy: It is like the part of you that loves stamp collecting comparing itself to the part of you that loves your wife or child. The part of you that loves stamp collecting is not clashing with or inferior to or insignificant in relationship to that part of you that loves your family. For there is no separation of "you" in that manner.
And, the joy or information you may gain from stamp collecting, you may use to enlighten or help out in your relationship to your family. There is an intercommunication going on. Either, simply the relaxation you gain from stamp collecting would help you with your family relationships; or the bonding from discussing the stamps; or some lessons of patience or study of a subject--may be passed on. So, one part of your self is not any less than any other part; and no separation as you suggest to yourself--actually exists.
So, to summarize, we are not insignificant. It is only the fears of the ego self (which cannot see past its own conception of the universe) which fears this and feels this way. The separation you feel, is only a feeling; not a fact. Its akin to a child's fear of the dark. This fear makes total sense from the POV of the child when you realize what the child personally fears about the dark, and thus, perceives in its shadows--and the thoughts which spring up in his mind while he is in the dark.
From that POV, his fears make sense. Yet, you know there is more going on than his POV; and he can be taught to know and/or understand that there is more going on.
8. Questman Asks: "Surely the total universe was not a reality project of humans on earth only. Not when we consider all the other forms of life that may exist in the universe. So, just as the scale of physical parts of the universe go up from the tiniest of subatomic particles through planets, solar systems, galaxies, etc., the reality creation projects may also go through a series of scales of sizes of groups participating? Perhaps all the various physical parts of the universe make up the physical body of God-the-Creator? I know I'm getting really "way-out" here, but they are things I frequently muse on. Thanks for your input."
Barrie Responds:
Physical reality is not so "concrete" and objective as you sometimes wish it to be or fear it is. We each create our physical realities superimposed upon each other. Other creatures who thus share our physical realities--would equally be in on its creation as we are.
Don't forget, too, that there are beings who don't even believe in physical reality; and will tell us or Seth...when we meet them in our inner journeys...that we are nuts to claim such a dimension exists.
There is an intimate connection between going deep into your mind or subconscious; and the vast reaches of deep space. They are connected. They are one.
From within the inner realm of electromagnetic consciousness, that exists beyond space and linear time...and that we focus on when we dream; and within which all our dreams & probable selves have their form and ongoing realities; and within which all incarnations focus on simultaneously from all points on the linear time line--and within which we meet and learn from each other--and then "shoot" back out to our physical lives--from within this realm, that which is deep in our subconscious--the manifestations of deep space also spring forth.
About the universe being the "physical body of God"--it's all how you define your terms, I guess. The way I would put it is, that the universe is the physical manifestation of all our souls & selves & experiences. In any case, please remember that "way-out" is "way-in" -- and so, enjoy your musings and questings....
You are welcome; and thanks for giving me a chance to give you input. The more I try to answer questions, the better I understand things myself. Each question gives me another POV from which to look at an idea from.
9. Mindy Asks: "Can you tell me how animals fit into all this. Those kind, sweet, innocent souls. Through animal experimentation and other varied abuses they suffer so much, why? Do they remain the same animal for each incarnation? For all the bks I've read on reincarnation or spirituality no one touches on the subject."
Barrie Responds:
Hi Mindy, I've thought about your animal question...and this is my answer. Animals have an intrinsic understanding of death--more so than humans; they know death is no end. They are willing to make sacrifices for their human friends. They also are more in touch with their innate love & compassion.
Humans have the same capacity for love & compassion, but the worries & fears of their ego or waking self often retards the expression of that love & compassion.
Given their innate understandings, animals choose to make sacrifices for humans; and I believe this is behind their choice to be involved in the mass killings that the food & testing industries "bestow" upon these loving & trusting creatures.
The animals sacrifice their lives with the innate understanding that death holds no end. They make this sacrifice in order for humans to learn to remember and be in touch with their own innate love & compassion.
In the same fashion, those humans who also choose a life of suffering--do so for the same reason. That is, to help others around them who are struggling with remembering & being in touch with their innate love & compassion--to use their free will to act in accordance with those traits.
To summarize, animals choose to be born into bodies which await the decision of those humans in a position to use their free will to either kill or not kill them.
As you know, for you are in the middle of this battle, this sacrifice has created a great deal of public discourse and displays of emotions--in the search for the way back to this compassion & love--as we, as a race, work out these issues.
In closing, these mass sacrifices are macrocosms of the sacrifices that regularly occur when an individual pet gives up his/her life in order to save the life of his/her owner.
I remember one example I heard about on a TV documentary about pets: A dog put himself in a position to be run over by a car in order to save the life of a child in the family. The dog saw that the car was going to hit the child; and the dog distracted the driver who ended up hitting the dog with the car.
Animals have already displayed their keen ability to use psychic powers as well: Powers human beings also have, but which human beings also have forgotten how to consciously use. I hope this has helped.
10. Peeps Asks: "Do I have this right? You believe that everything we see is created continually by 'us' -- it is all an illusion. The universe, the moon (which we must have done a good job on since it's so obvious) -- just let me know if I have this right first. That makes everything an 'illusion.'"
Barrie Responds:
No, not at all. "Illusion" is your word. I haven't used that term because it is not at all what I mean. Physical reality is what it appears to be as it is perceived by us physically-focused souls, while we are physical. In other words, on one physical level, the wall is a solid wall and keeps out the cold; and the desk is a solid desk and upholds the lamp.
Of course, on another physical level, the wall and the desk are composed of atoms and molecules which are constantly in motion; with spaces between them and their internal parts which (by ratio) are as far apart sometimes as the moon is from the Earth. In other words, from the microscopic level the wall and desk do not appear too solid, yet they are.
Now, would I say that, therefore, it is an illusion that the desk is solid? No, I wouldn't use that term. But, someone may rightfully use that term because on one level, it IS an illusion that it is solid. But the word "illusion" has too many connotations to it which imply that the illusory item is not "real" -- and that is not the case. The desk is real even tho, from the microscopic perspective, it is not solid--as it is perceived by the human eye.
Now, on another level, the level at which I speak, that physical desk and physical wall--have their origin from within our consciousness. That is, physical reality springs forth from our inner, spiritual realm. And, it springs forth, every secondless-second, so fast and so often, that it appears to all our physical tools and eyes--that it is here constantly, all the time, with no break.
I'm saying that physical items actually blink in and out of existence on a regular, ongoing basis--and that their origin is the inner, spiritual realm which all of us are intimately a part of, even while physically focused and typing at the keyboard.
Further, I am saying as the table is composed of atoms; those atoms are ultimately, when broken down on the superstring level, composed of an electromagnetic consciousness made physical, or, for lack of a better term, solidified thought.
Now, you may agree or disagree with me as is your privilege and as makes for interesting interactions and debate. But, please understand that if what I am saying is true--I am not implying or saying in any way that the desk or wall are illusions. I am simply further explaining what they are made of and where they ultimately originate from--one step past the atomic level.
Where things originate from have many different levels. For example, the desk--comes from a store, before that it comes from a warehouse, then from a a factory, then from a tree, from a forest, etc etc etc. And the material of the wood comes from a tree, consists of atoms, consists of solidified thought. Now, none of this implies the desk is an illusion. If someone said that the desk or tree came from God--would that make the desk or tree an illusion?
Now, about the universe, the stars, etc. I don't think that these items are constructs of consciousness as is the desk or wall.
Sometimes, when someone has an ADC, they perceive dots or swirls of light in their room. They believe (rightly so, in my opinion) that these swirls or dots of light are their loved one's form, energy or consciousness after he/she has passed on.
In other words, the energy of the soul of an individual who has "died" sometimes appears on the physical plane, or bleeds through onto the physical plane, in a form that is perceived as little dots or balls of light to those experiencing this type of ADC.
Now, with that in mind. I believe that each of us are a part of an Oversoul or Whole Self. This Whole Self--sends forth personalities to live in various time periods, which, from our 1999 perspective, we would call the present, past and/or future. In other words, reincarnation exists and each incarnation exists simultaneously. This "family" of incarnations (and each of us would each be a member of such an "inner" family) is all connected to the one Oversoul or Whole Self from which they spring forth.
Now, in the same manner that the energy of one individual bleeds thru onto the physical plane as little dots of light, I believe that the energy of these Oversouls or Whole Selves bleed through onto our physical plane as the quasars which are seen thru our telescopes. In other words, quasars are actually the way the energy of our Oversouls are perceived or are manifested in the physical dimension.
Likewise, each personality has as its "nucleus" or Inner Self--which is responsible for the physically-manifested personality and the "family" of personalities connected to it--all from this lifetime. This "family" consists of all the probable and dream selves of the individual. I believe that the stars we see in the "heavens" are the physical manifestations of the energy of all of our Inner Selves. Or, in other words, the energy of the Inner Self appears or bleeds through onto our physical plane in what we perceive as a star.
Remember, I said that all of physical reality has its origin from within the inner, spiritual realm. Each of us, have not only access to this inner realm, but we are intimately an active participator of the activities which occur within this inner realm. Our portal or access lies in our minds. We do have conscious contact with this realm. But also, one of our portals is what psychologists perceive as the subconscious.
We all have a personal subconscious which is connected to our Inner Self and stems from this lifetime. But we also all have a collective subconscious which is connected to our Oversoul and to which all of our other incarnations are equally connected and have access.
Thus, we are not a blank slate when we come into this world via physical birth, but we have knowledge from and access to this collective subconscious. Within this collective subconscious is access to the shared consciousness of all Oversouls.
The further we go into our subconscious domains, the further in distance is the experience physicalized or manifested in the physical dimension. Thus, the deeper inside you go, the further out in deep space is the manifestation of that experience. Thus, there is an intimate relationship between inner journeys and outer space.
11. Peeps Asks: "I also get the impression you think we are all 'God' or 'everything' is God and that reality consists of all of us and all our 'incarnations' are just bumping into each other all over our illusory universe only we don't remember it. Therefore to you, there is no creative God or creative force other than ourselves, right?"
Barrie Responds:
Sorry, Peeps, but that's not what I think. As I explained elsewhere, it becomes difficult to communicate when one person uses the terms from his or her belief system to try to explain the right-or-wrongness of another's belief system.
Please note that the term "God," "bumping into each other" and "illusory universe" are all your terms. They are your honest attempt to translate my words into your system of beliefs. But the meaning of what I say gets lost in this translation.
I don't think the universe is illusory. I don't think incarnations are bumping into each other. The term "God" has so many meanings--that I'm not even sure how you define the term. Even those who believe in Judeo/Christian religions often have conflicting beliefs when it comes to defining God...and the methods of God's creations & interactions with us humans.
Be that as it may, instead of the word "God" which is loaded with so much passion from the believers in what they turn into conflicting religions--member who have actually killed and tortured their perceived enemies based on their belief in their "God" -- I prefer to use the term "All-That-Is" or "everythingallatonce."
Therefore, I would say that God is the word some humans use to describe their interpretation of how the souls and creations of the universe come about and interact.
Now, when you say that I think there is "no force other than ourselves" -- again the definitions of these terms play a large part in deciphering their truths. In your system of belief, you interpret the word "self" to mean simply the surface perspective of the ego or waking self, including that self's connections to his own personal subconscious.
But when I talk of the Self creating reality--I am talking about the Whole Self or Oversoul--as well as all the Inner Selves--AND also all individual personalities from all time periods connected with that Inner Self. There really is no separation between an individual self and his/her Inner Self and his/her Oversoul. It is really a matter of focus. The ego is that part of the Inner Self which focuses solely on the physical plane. The Inner Self is that part of the Oversoul or Whole Self which focuses on the various incarnations, probable, and dream selves that are connected to any particular physical body.
To summarize, the "self" which is involved in all of the creations--is not simply one personality or self as perceived by the ego self of that one personality, but rather the conglomeration of all the selves as I have stated--both individually and enmasse.
12. Peeps Asks: "Isn't it possible that the way in which we perceive reality is INTENDED? (i.e., by God)? I believe we can create how we REACT to WHAT actually HAPPENS, but I don't think we create what happens. I know you do. But if I'm creating my own reality then I thus create: I have never been, am not now, nor ever will be reincarnated."
Barrie Responds:
The way in which we perceive reality is just as we intended it to be. We, as physical selves, would be very confused if we perceived reality as it is behind the camouflage. It would be quite confusing if we saw all the selves we are and intermixed all time periods. We would wake up in 1999 and go to the bathroom in 1610...with our friends taking on various incarnations as we brushed our teeth. Whether you call the forces behind the creation of reality God or the collective Oversouls--we perceive reality as it was intended to be perceived by us while physically focused.
And to the second part of your question: Yes, I do. I hope you understand a little more clearly the "how" behind the reasons why I do. We create our own reality in two general ways: 1) we create the physical objects of our immediate surroundings; and 2) we agree to the creation of the events and situations we find ourselves in. And, of course, as you say, we then react to the events we have agreed to manifest physically; or, in your terms we "create" our reactions to the events.
And about creating your own reality: Once again, Peeps, the creation of your reality goes beyond the wishes of the personality you know as Peeps--altho there are many levels of creations in which Peeps takes a major role. The beliefs that are deeply held by the Inner Self and/or the Oversoul--are much more powerful or stronger than the beliefs or wishes of any one ego or waking self. The decisions to reincarnate are made with the input that your ego self provides to your Inner Self--but they are made by your Inner Self in conjunction with your Oversoul or Whole Self.
But, remember, there are not really any separations between these selves. They are a Whole. It is just a matter of what part of this Whole focuses on physical reality in what particular linear time period a body has been manifested.
Be well and be happy...and I hope I have clarified my beliefs a bit.
13. Alteja Asks: "I was reading in your questions and answers regarding when you think of someone the other person knows you are thinking of them. Are they aware that you are thinking of them? If so, how come they don't always respond to it?"
Barrie Responds:
There are various levels of awareness. On a deep, inner level, the self is aware of these communications and reacts to them, altho this awareness may never reach a conscious level.
In other words, the waking self often remains unaware of the psychic connections that it has (on deeper, inner levels) with other beings. Even tho the waking self remains consciously unaware, the inner self feeds it information based on these communications so that the waking self may make certain decisions based on these communications.
It is important to remember that there really is no separation of the self as I am describing. The separations are for purposes of communication with you; and from the POV of the waking self. The waking self is simply that part of the inner self which focuses on physical reality. It is a part of the inner self; and not a separate self.
Also, each waking self or ego self (they are the same thing) always has free will; and so, regardless of information it gains from that part of itself we call the inner self, the waking self has free will to make its own decisions. The waking self can choose to ignore what it wishes.
But, remember, too, that any event which becomes physicalized, becomes so only after it is agreed upon by all participants and witnesses--otherwise the event would not occur. So, by definition, any event which occurs means that an agreement has been made. There is no other way.
Please, remember, too, that the participants and witnesses, most likely would not consciously remember these agreements. But once their minds became open to the possibility of such agreements, they would then be able to actually search for these agreements and why they were made. I hope this has helped you.
14. Robin Asks: "Barrie, you have written, "You create your reality physically by your thoughts and they manifest as objects.” I can't help but referencing this concept this example. There was a contestant recently on Jeopardy who was totally blind. He had become so at 3 years of age. I forget the details, but it was clearly an accident. I would agree in a sense that maybe he created his reality in that his positive attitude and persistence made him overcome a lot of limitations, however, did he create his own blindness. And did he deliberately cause an accident that would result such devastation."
Barrie Responds:
Please understand that the word "cause" is your word. The word "cause" carries the potential burden of placing "blame" and/or "guilt" somewhere. Such an "accident" would be a co-creation; a shared event; a cooperative effort, an intimate choreography that would include the agreement and participation of all involved and their families and friends, including witnesses.
These agreements would be reached in the inner, spiritual realm which exists outside of linear time. We all have constant access to & interaction with this realm while both awake and asleep.
We know we have lived through many, many deaths and we shall live through many, many more. And we know that everybody, living or "dead," is equally conscious and alive.
It is while in this inner state of "knowing" that we choose our birth, death, and maladies such as blindness.
Taking death for example, the type of death we choose may be from a botched abortion, a car accident, a disease, a miscarriage, a murder, in our sleep at age 98, take your pick from your vast imagination.
In any case, we choose the type of death we choose in our best attempt to best learn and affect and/or spur on those we love...and ourselves...with the agreement of all involved.
Remember that we make these choices knowing full well that death is no end at all.
And yes, even bereaved and grieving parents, friends, relatives and spouses are in on these decisions and know about them way in advance (speaking from the linear vantage point of our physical beings).
Thus, we all knowingly choose our painful when painful (or joyful when joyful) paths for our own reasons and growth. This includes either being born blind or by "acquiring" blindness during one's lifetime.
And even the murderer or drunk driver chooses his/her participation first and with us in these invisible realms; as well as with all witnesses involved and all family members of all involved.
But remember, we all choose these events while knowing full well that what we will be grieving when "conscious" or focused back on the physical plane is only a camouflage.
We know full well when making these decisions that death does not exist; and that after a person dies he or she is as alive as all those who are "left behind" grieving. We know that his/her personality is just as intact as ever.
We know full well that the "dead" person has simply transformed his/her energy into a form, which no longer needs the camouflage of physical reality.
For a simple example, someone who may have lived many, many long lives (as measured in years) may choose to die at a very young age.
Why? Perhaps to get or remember that "shortened" physical experience and feel the various and wide-ranging emotions such an experience brings with it to the visible as well as invisible world.
Meanwhile, he/she also chooses the specific parents with whom to share this experience (all with the parents' agreement "beforehand" in this inner, "knowing-death-is-no-end" realm).
It is these choices we make about our "next" life that has been called Karma (and greatly misunderstood by many who incorrectly see these death/life choices imposed on us by some outside source or force as some kind of reward or punishment).
The parents or loved ones of those who have "died" (although heartbroken & grieving) do get something out of what may appear to be a horrible, victimizing experience; for, they, too, know (but forget) that death is no end at all.
For a wide variety of possible reasons parents or children may choose this situation and choose to experience the "jolt" of losing a child at a young age or a parent unexpectantly.
It may be in order to get themselves back into a spiritual way of thinking. It may be to get themselves back on a path of realizing that death is no end.
In any case, the point is that we do choose our fates, both pleasant and seemingly painful. But we make our choices from a vantage point of knowing that it is all played out in a camouflage universe of physical reality that we have all conjured up for this very purpose; and that no death actually ever occurs.
None of this precludes free will.
For even tho we choose these things long before they happen (in physical terms); and even though there are many choices to choose from to learn the same things...still...we can always change our minds and our so-called "destinies" or directions brought with us from before our births.
If we create our own reality by our choices...then this holds true for afterlife choices as well. We choose afterlife things from the perspective of the overall soul...and not any one particular personality.
So, if you (as the overall soul) decide that since you were so lacking of compassion in one lifetime, you may CHOOSE any one of a large variety of life circumstances in order to relearn the importance of compassion. You may choose to be rich or poor, jailed or King, etc...all to the end of learning or re-experiencing the importance of compassion.
If one chooses to be blind in this lifetime, it is in order to experience the emotions and feelings that can be uniquely gotten from that experience. Simultaneously, the blind man's Inner Self is in communication with other of his personalities or incarnations who have no such visual problem. The personality of the blind person, also is in contact with the other personalities who "share" his Oversoul. Also, he has many probable and dream selves with perfect vision--and he learns, too, from their experiences.
Let's say someone is a serial killer and killers 20 people. This person has lost touch with his own innate compassion and has forgotten to beauty and joy of life. Now, in his "next" life, in response to this "forgetting," this person may decide that he wants to put himself back in touch with the importance of life and compassion. He may do this in a variety of ways.
He may choose to be killed himself at a crucial time in his life. He may choose to be involved with a loved one who is killed. He may choose to be a great doctor and save thousands of lives and be beloved by his whole community.
What all these lifetimes, tho, would have in common, would be the emotional experience of getting in touch with his innate compassion and the importance of joy of life.
So, a person who chooses to be blind, does so for his or her own reasons...but along these lines. He or she believes that this is the best way to experience life for this particular incarnation.
Altho we create our own reality, we are limited by certain mass beliefs we have agreed to before taking on physical form. These include things like gravity and the ability to grow back an arm after a tractor has ripped one off.
So, if the type of blindness is one that is not "curable" according to our mass beliefs about the body--then the blindness would not simply be able to be "wished" away. For, always, the Self would adhere to the deeper and more strongly held mass belief it has agreed to before forming a physical body to inhabit. Well, thaaat's all...for now...
