Angels are always present. They have certain rankings and are known through certain aspects. Everyday, these angels are present. One may not notice, but they help people go through their lives.
The Seraphim is the highest order of angels. They are known to be white, with three pairs of wings and swords of fire. They are the angels of love, light, and fire, and are most often found above God’s throne singing songs of praise.
The Cherubim, who stands beside God’s throne, is the second highest order of angels. They have four wings and are not like the typical cupids seen in paintings. The cherubim is the first angels in the Bible and is said to be the guardian of the Tree of Life. They are also known as the angels of wisdom and prayer.
The angels of justice, who have four wings and four faces, are the third ranking order of angels. Thrones, as they are called, spread God’s decisions and circle the throne of God because they are known as the angels who sparkle and move on wheels.
The fourth ranking order of angels are called Dominations. They are the angels that children know who wear long white robes with gold belts and a green sole. They carry golden staffs and the seal of God, and at times an orb. Dominations are the angels that facilitate other angels.
Virtues, the fifth ranking order of angels, are known for being the angels of miracles, encouragement and blessings. They are intelligent angels who are in charge of bestowing grace and valor.
Powers are the sixth ranking order of angels though they are also considered to be the first rank. They are the angels that protect people from all evil. They also guide the journey of souls from death to heaven.
The seventh ranking order of angels, who wear soldiers uniforms with golden girdles, are the Principalities. They are the guardians of religions. They are also considered to be the angels who guide nations and leaders.
Archangels, the eighth ranking order of angels, are the most known of all orders. There are seven beloved archangels in the Bible: Michael, Jophiel, Chamuel, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel and Zadkiel. They are the angels that spread God’s messages, and are in command of the army of angels who do battle against the forces of evil.
"The ninth ranking order of angels. Angels are the order closest to humanity. The word angel derives from the Greek ‘angelos’ meaning ‘messenger’." (Ascension Research Center 1997, 1-2)
