Reading and Writing

"Lucy Hires An English Tutor" - Lucy has Ricky read a book that has many 'ough' sounds. 'Ough' has different sounds, and this scene would be a good clip to show. Seeing Ricky get confused can enlighten people on how easy it is for beginning readers to be confused when they start out. Soon after that, the Tutor is teaching them about the vowels - a, e, i, o, and u.

"Ricky Minds The Baby" - See Ricky tell Little Ricky the story of "Little Red Riding Hood" in Spanish.

"The Operetta" - Lucy writes her own play, "The Pleasant Peasant."

"Lucy Writes A Play" - Lucy writes two plays in this episode, and see what happens when there is a mix up.

"Lucy Writes A Novel" - Lucy writes her own novel.

"Ricky's Screen Test" - Lucy and Ricky have to memorize the script for his audition.

"Little Ricky's School Pageant" - Little Ricky's kindergarten class is putting on a play, and he has a lot of lines to learn!

"The Barbershop Quartet" - From "The Lucy Show" - A teacher tries to teach Lucy to project her voice. He uses some vowel sounds to do this.

"The Passports" - For letter S, you can show and sing, "Skip To My Lou." There are a lot of S words in that song.

"Lucy's Last Birthday" - For letter F, show the scene with Friends of the Friendless and listen for F words.

"Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress" - Play the song, "Friendship."
