Cheezels are an all time favourite snack food. Here's a smorgasbord of ideas. Choose those that most suit your space and time constraints - and naturally the ones you think will be the most fun. But beware! Cheezels can mess up playgrounds and uniforms, so choose your activities carefully.
1. Cheezel Chase
* For this activity you need one packet of Cheezel,
a plastic garbage bag and a flat piece of ground
Choose ten children to line up along one end of a netball court or
a straight piece of ground. Each child is given a cheezel which they are
required to roll along the ground to the other end of the court (or to
where ever you determine the finish line to be). If lots of children would
like to be involved you may want to have a couple of heats (probably no
more than five or the spectators may get a bit restless). After you have
run all your heats, bring the winner from each heat back to try out for
Cheezel Chase Champion (a gold cardboard crown with those words on it would
add to the effect).
2. Cheezel Chomp
* For this activity you will need a long piece of string
and 10-14 smaller pieces of string, pieces of material for tying
hands behind your back and 10-14 cheezels.
Take two of the smaller pieces of string and tie them half way along
the larger piece of string. Tie a cheezel to the end of each of those pieces
of string. Select two children who would like to 'chomp the cheezel' from
the end of the string. Tie these children's hands behind their back. On
the words 'Chomp away' each child starts chomping away at one of the cheezels.
The winning child is the one who is the first to finish their cheezel.
When a winner has been found tie two new pieces of string to the long piece
and select two more willing chompers.
3. Cheezel Faces
* For this game you need teams of 8 and a cheezel for each
child.
This game is essentially a relay with variety. Divide each team of
8 into 2 teams of 4, sending four children up one end of the space with
the remaining four lining up at the start line (one behind the other).
The first child balances their cheezel on their forehead and walks/runs
to their partner at the other end. That child places their cheezel on their
forehead and walks to the opposite end. The second child (in each group
of 4) will balance the cheezel on their cheek. The third will balance the
cheezel on their chin and the fourth child will balance the cheezel on
their nose.
4. Cheezels Toss
* For this game you will need teams of 8, a cheezel for each
team (with a couple of spare cheezels) and a toothpick for each child.
This game is a relay. Divide each team of 8 into two teams of 4, sending
4 children up one end of the space with the remaining 4 lining up at the
start line (one behind the other). The first child places the toothpick
in their mouth and the puts the toothpick through the hold of the cheezel.
They then walk to the first child at the opposite end and pass the cheezel
to the child (who is waiting with toothpick in mouth). You are not touching
the toothpick with any part of your body when passing it to your team-mate.
The relay continues until all eight teams members have received the cheezel.
5. Cheezel Constructions
* For this game you can have up to 10 groups of 6 children
and 1/2 a packet (200 grams) of cheezels for each group.
The groups have 10 minutes to construct a tower using the cheezels.
When the time is up the spectators take a vote as to their 'cheezel construction
of choice'. You may want to select a winner in a number of categories -
such as tallest, most creative, most cheezels used, most stable.
