Ceremony for the Anchoring of the Rays:

The Easternmost ray, that in Hendricks Park is anchored first, but there is an immediate procession to the ray between the first point and the one on Lorane Hwy. The rays are traced and invoked in sequence, sunwise, the final one resting upon.

The working orientation of the six-rayed star is this: The East point is assigned to Saturn, for there the cycle is begun and ended. As Sun holds the center of the figure, the first rays of dawn are seen to enter the great circle at Saturn and proceed sunwise, thus the next point is attributed to Jove, the Lorane point to Venus, the next point to Moon, the Butte position to Mercury, the next to Mars and the last, the Park postion, is ruled, of course, by Saturn. This position could also be called the Gate Position, as Saturn can be said to have that function here.

A token object is placed at each point so as to provide anchor to the planetary influences, and, hopefully, to begin the placement of the improptu altars that are planned at these locations.

Regarding travel and intermediary visualizations--do not visualize the work as a connected pattern just yet. Rather, keep these pionts in mind as tho' they were great lights or fires placed upon high places as warnings, wards or somesuch. In the center, at the time of activation, it is the principal visualization to bring about the actual connectedness of these points.

I'd thought it would be a grand thing to take along a music machine with an appropriate selection of music, playing throughout, but I don't know as though time will permit this.

To Begin at The Park:

1. Hymn to the Sun (as given below)

2. Proceed to next point

To establish Jupiter:

1: Hymn to the Sun (A.S.): "SALUTATION & PRAISE UNTO THEE, O LIFE-ENKINDLING SUN, CHILD OF CREATION'S LORD! OH THOU LONE, ALL-SEEING EYE OF THE VAULT CELESTIAL! EXTEND THY LIGHT THAT I MAY SEE BUT DIM THY GLORY THAT I BE NOT BLINDED. UNMASK THY COUNTENANCE, O GOD OF LIGHT: FOR I AM A LOVER OF TRUTH AND WOULD BEHOLD THE SPIRITUAL ESSENCE CONCEALED BY THY GOLDEN DISK! SO REVEAL UNTO MY PERCEPTION THY SHINING AND INMOST NATURE, EVEN THAT HIGH SPIRIT WHICH INFUSES THEE AND IS ONE WITH THE PRIMAL FLAME OF MINE OWN BEING. O LIFE-ENKINDLING SUN, CHILD OF CREATION'S LORD, SALUTATIONS AND PRAISES UNTO THEE!

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto Jupiter, wisest of the Sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let thy judicious and jovial wisdom fanfare the court of Creation!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

To Establish Venus:

1: Hymn to the Sun

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto Venus, lover of the sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let the fire that drives the green fuse toward the explosion of Spring lend vitality to our marriage of the cosmos!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

To Establish Luna:

1: Hymn to the Sun

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto the Moon, beloved daughter of the Sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let thy swelling and subsiding vision call the tides of the universe!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

To Establish Mercury:

1: Hymn to the Sun

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto Mercury, healer and magus, child of the Sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let thy quick and clever gesture summon the might of the worlds!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

To establish Mars:

1: Hymn to the Sun

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto Mars, fiery brother of the Sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let thy enthusiasm, resulution and comraderie enflames the passions of the heavens!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

To Fully Establish Saturn:

1: Hymn to the Sun

2: Place stake, but do not drive it. Orison: "Let this place be sacred unto Saturn, eldest child of the Sun. We trespass here only to give praise and honor to thee! Let thy sturdy and timely pace give rythm and meaning to the days of our time!"

3: Drive Stake after leaving token, move on to next point.

The Sun:

1. Unwrap key piece and place it upon the wrap, upon the ground.

"This place is sacred unto itself, sacred also unto the beloved sun, Father of All. We gather here the balance of the celestial family--thine and mine--that we may give praise unto the harmony that accompanies us on our journey through the heavens. Let our machinations be reflected in the mirror of the cosmos and in the depths of the spirit. We call it all to dance."

At this juncture, determine the North point of the star and visualize a chord to be drawn to the Park point. Use a brass bell or other battery to count six in a manner consistent with one's heartbeat while imagining the connection being made. Repeat this to the Venus point and for going back to the Butte point. Start the other triangle in the place opposite the Butte point and proceed sunwise. Keep the previously drawn lines in mind, resting to visualize when neccessary.

3. Remove and cover key after leaving token.

4. Repeat the Hymn to the Sun

Finished

Remarks/Justifications

The use of the hexagram in essentially planetary (Heptarchic) works presents special problems. In most of the "classic" texts that treat of the subject (and those of the Golden Dawn) the sun occupies the center of the hex, while his family of planets rotate 'round the points such that Saturn is usually seen at the top and (sunwise, 'round the points) Jupiter, Venus, Moon, Mercury and Mars follow. Zodiacal attributions, too, are appended to the points and to the intersections.

After some difficulty, I chose Saturn (at the last moment, perhaps significantly) for the Easternmost point, the point which the Sun's light strikes first, because that planet has many overtones of "Gate-ness" and other desirable qualities. At first, I laid the planets out from here, sunwise in the order of apparent speed (i.e., as in the days of the week). This didn't quite suit, so I rethought the matter and decided upon the ancient order that gives pattern to the Hours. When I looked at where the planet's fell in relation to the geographical features, they seemed to "click" almost audibly. My remarks:

Is [the park] Saturnian? Certainly in the ways I mention above, but also note that it is the largest and heaviest land mass to which this device is anchored. It's profile of autocracy, coldness and loftiness fit well with the neighborhood that surrounds the park. This wealthy neighborhood is on line with the axis provided by the dawn, the park and the collecting center. This should magnify the "material gain" aspects of the magick.

For Jupiter, I find no immediate correspondences, at least beyond the ideas of comfort and wealth the neighborhood in which it sits seems to possesses.

The Venus point seems very right for [that particular hwy junction]. [The name of the hwy] is a woman's name, first off. Secondly, that part of the world is on the north side of the Big Butte and is perpetually in shadow. I've always gotten a very feminine feel from that area...

The same is true of the next point, that of the moon. This point is still on the south side of town, but signicantly closer to the chaotic West End. I feel that Lunar energy, generally is feminine but debased from the lofty principles represented by Venus. Fickleness, drug-addiction and lunacy are extreme examples of the Lunar current, so the placement doesn't feel that far wrong. The Moon, incidentally, will set each day in this quarter of the sky.

The Butte was a natural for Mercury, as I've always felt that place to be one of the most handy and accessible power-spots in town. The significance of the removal of the cross (and that this plan is given birth 3 days thereafter) and of the emplacement of a magickal device, whereat the very corner represented by the god of magick himself rests is of no small significance. History testifies to [the Butte's namesake]'s Mercurial character and the ray passing from the Park to the Venus point passes within yards of his grave.

This places Mars at the stadium. I need say no more.
