By Her Side
So softly by her side
he sleeps.
The love she feels, so real.
Her finger gently travels
the highways woven in his face
...not to awaken,
to etch them in her mind.
She breathes him deeply in
stamping the him-scent
into her motherboard.
She watches the hands she loves
twitch in silent dream direction,
hoping she is there with him
behind the fluttering lids.
Her own eyes close now.
She can still taste his flavor
and her skin yet tingles
where they loved.
Yes, what she feels is real.
So softly by her side,
now softly in her mind,
he sleeps.
