These three sisters are the daughters of the sea gods Phorcys and Ceto. The first two sisters are immortal but the last, Medusa, was killed by Perseus. They are described as having snakes for hair, hands of brass (or bronze),teeth as long as boar tusks, impenetrable scales and wings of gold. Only Poseidon was not afraid of them. By Medusa he fathered Chrysaor and Pegasus. They are as follows:
