Part 1
Getting an email address
    One of the main advantages to using the Internet is that it allows you to interact with people from all over the planet. So you can converse with professors, professionals and experts from many fields, old friends, new friends, etc. To facilitate this, you will be getting an e mail address. If you already have a Rocketmail or Yahoo address, fill in the form and go to Part 2.

  1. Getting an email address: go to http://mail.yahoo.com
  2. Follow instructions and read the user agreement and rules
  3. Use a unique login name that you can remember
  4. Choose a password you will easily remember but DO NOT give it to anybody!
  5. By following the directions you should have a confirmed email address that you can use the rest of your life. Fill out the brief form below and go to part 2. Be sure to insert BOTH items in the blank!!

Part 2
Practicing email skills
    You will be practicing email this semester by interacting with other students and professionals on a mailing list. Send me a brief note from yourYahoo or Rocketmail account--it can just say "test"--to get you started. My address (WRITE THIS DOWN!): janesbit1@yahoo.com

Be sure to EXIT from your Yahoo email site when finished; if you forget, the next person to use your computer will have access to your email account!

Part 3
Bulletin Boards
    Another cyberskill you'll be utilizing this semester will be using a class bulletin board to post questions, share information, URLs, etc. Now that you have your email address, go to our classbulletin board and post a message.


Part 4
Exploring the Internet
    Now that you have your email address and have posted an email and posted to the bulletin board, get ready to surf some really great sites from:
