English is my second language and I want to learn French for I want to read The Little Prince in its original version. But I think it will take a long time for me to learn another language so I used to read the English version that I have now. I love this book so much for this reminds me of my best friend. She introduced me this book when we had a terrible fight. I was so hurt and she was too. Maybe, you guys know how hard it is to lose a friend. When I read the story, I go on thinking about my long lost friend. Because of this book, I learned how wonderful friendship is to the life of a human being. I see this book a superb one. It makes me cry. I am reading this over and over again for almost two years now. My book is now two years old, I was 5 when I had it, now I am 17, the book is still in my care. I really treasure it.

The Little Prince has been an insperation to me, It has touched my life, like no other piece of liturature. I always give friends and aquitences a copy as a gift. Mainly to test them, like the case of the Boa constrictor. If they can understand and relat to the story I talk to them about important things like feelings, emotions, love, innocence... By the way, I have read that so-called Sequel to the LP too! IT's called "Le Petit Prince Retrouve". this book is written by a Canadian writer called Jean-Pierre Davidts. I really enjoyed reading the LP in French as part of my Higher School Certificate ( 1969 ). I later read it again and enjoyed it even more. I do appreciate the effort at having the LP available in many languages. And Yes, I do love the do differemnt covers. One of the ( many ) memorable lines is " One must look with the heart and not the eyes>" The book is so simple yet it spells out a very powerful mesage about what is REALLY important in life. The first time I read "Le Petit Prince" was in a high school french class, and I thought it was a little bizarre. I mean, a little guy from another planet who can talk to animals and flowers and get an answer? I thought the pilot has hit his hear and ima ined the whole thing. i asked my teacher and she said the point of the book was to figure out if he is real or not.... OHHHH! Now I get it!

I remember the first time I read the LP I honestly thought that the le petit prince had a personality disorder...that's through a cynical adult's eyes. Think about it...a talking flower, a box with a supposed sheep inside it, a fox that talked and a snake too...I honestly thought that these things that talked to him were just multiple personalities in his head. Or either the little prince was just a figment of the narrator's imagination, mainly because if you think about it, a man stuck in the middle of t e desert, with no food nor water is bound to become delirious. But, because I now have to write an essay on this story, (in french may this English as a first language add) I decided to get in the mood. You have a very good and helpful site. Keep up th good work. P.S. There is no sheep!
