The following consists of pieces taken from numerous articles and
essays in addition to information obtained from Circassian elders.
Unfortunately, in the course of my research, I did not keep track of all
my sources. Nonetheless, I must acknowledge my indebtedness to those from
whom I gleaned the material and offer my sincere thanks to all of
them.
I must also say that during my research I have discovered articles and
essays that are wholly inaccurate. A word of warning to all to maintain
a critical attitude when perusing any material. That being said,
I make no claim that my material is free from error but I have attempted
to limit myself to material upon which our Circassian
elders look favorably. Our elders are our best resources, not
those from outside, who undoubtedly write our history to suit
their views and prejudices. I am especially leery of those scholars who
are clearly enemies of Islam -- these in particular strive to their
utmost to misrepresent Muslim history.
This section, as you will no doubt agree, is considerably disjointed and
incomplete -- it will remain so until I have the opportunity to compile
and edit that which I have gathered.
