Dear God

Blaming Thee for all our pain We take Your holy name in vain Yearning to be free We turn away from Thee Wishing to do as we please We rush into the wayward seas Struggling to be free We flee from Thee Turning here and there for what we need We fail to give Thy words any heed Feigning to be free We close our eyes to Thee In one corner of the mind or another We hide ourselves, becoming all the blinder In the dungeons of our souls we pretend to be free All the while groping in the darkness without Thee In the deep of the night into which we fled We accept at last what we once did dread Only by chaining ourselves to Thee Can we ever truly be free |
