| To the People of the Book |
I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the Accursed
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
"O People of the Book! There hath come to you Our Messenger, revealing to you much that you used to hide in the Book and passing over much: there hath come to you from Allah a light and a perspicuous Book -- wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His Will, unto the light -- guideth them to a Path that is Straight." (5:15-16)
"In blasphemy are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: 'Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His Will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all -- everyone that is on earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth for Allah hath power over all things'." (5:17)
"The Jews and the Christians say: 'We are sons of Allah and His beloved'. Say: 'Why then doth he punish you for your sins? Nay, you are but men, of the men He hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and He punisheth whom He pleaseth; and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between; and unto Him is the final goal'." (5:18)
"O People of the Book! Now hath come unto you, making clear unto you, Our Messenger, after the break in Our Messengers, lest you should say: 'There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner'; but now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner and Allah hath power over all things." (5:19)
"Say: 'O People of the Book! Come to commom terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, lords and patrons other than Allah.' If then they turn back, say: 'Bear witness that we are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will).'" (3:64)
"Say: 'O People of the Book! Why reject you the signs of Allah, when Allah is Himself witness to all you do?' Say: 'O People of the Book! Why obstruct you those who believe, from the path of Allah, seeking to make it crooked, while you were yourselves witnesses? But Allah is not unmindful of all that you do'." (3:98-99)
"O People of the Book! Believe in what We have revealed, confirming what was with you, before We change the face and fame of some beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath breakers, for the decision of Allah must be carried out. Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin most heinous indeed." (4:47-48)
"O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him. So believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not 'Trinity', desist, it will be better for you, for Allah is One God, Glory be to Him, (far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all things in the heavens and on earth and enough is Allah as a Disposer of Affairs." (4:171)
"To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return."
