  1. Explain the motivations for the early European voyages of overseas discovery and discuss the impact these voyages had upon Europe. (WH pp. 387, 395-397; MEH pp. 82-83)
  2. Discuss how the ideals and concerns of the Northern Renaissance differed from those of the Italian Renaissance. (WH 382-383; MEH pp. 33-35)
  3. Let’s say that Mr. Conlee aspires to be the director of the Commonwealth Governor’s School. Create a dialogue between Machiavelli and Erasmus in which they discuss (or debate) the manner in which he should attempt to achieve this goal.
