Chapter 5: wrapping up on my notes

Never comes the day………..

I am a clear thinking, intelligent woman. Why do I do this? Because Justin is Justin, that’s why.

Back to reality. I woke up on July 11, and realized the new Harry Potter movie was out, and I really needed to go see that, as I am a major fan of that too. On the way to the movie house, I was humming it again, never comes the day………. And I got a totally new meaning from the lyrics. Justin’s poetry is like that, it has delayed reactions. What’s right in front of us is not always obvious, it seems to be a true thing.

And I burst into tears, there driving in the car, it was so profound. It seems we get to working day in and day out at whatever our life tasks are, and sometimes we forget to stop and love one another. It doesn’t matter what level of work you do. There is such a thing as being too task-oriented I suppose; but if some of us WEREN’T that way, nothing would get done, and planes would fall from the sky. Chaos would rule. John Galt the Anti-Christ would be proven right.

All this does not change the fact that I have two presentations and one portfolio to finalize before the end of July, not to mention all the field work and research that has to go along with those. I really need to buckle down. How did so much get heaped on my plate so quickly? Hell I don’t even have a cash flow! And won’t until September.

Don’t forget to love, ever. Some of us even forget to strum our guitars.

Harry Potter V was pretty good, and those of us who read know the story, but it was very dark, and more of a drama than a fantasy. I suspect the Brits will have some flash backs about their own bad school experiences, things aren’t so vicious between teachers and students in this country. It gave me pause for thought about how schools really are run. I thought all the actors, even the bad guys, did wonderful jobs, some very talented movie makers are doing this as a labor of love, it’s above and beyond what one might expect. I somehow have to fit reading the last book into my summer schedule. I can’t live until I know how it all ends! And I continue to be unsettled that my own son is a dead ringer for Dan Radcliff, even unto noses. Must be the Celt coming out.

So here are the rest of the Moody notes:

Songs:

Signs: There is a very funny roadie with the stage crew. One night he was wearing a tee that said "Rig Hard" on his back. Hoho. Another night I spotted " You either rock or you suck" on the tee. That guy was hilarious! By the roadside I saw a beggar, his sign was at least funny "Will take verbal abuse for spare change!" hahaha (I didn’t roll down my window tho). In Victoria some wags in the back of the stadium held up a sign "4 old farts you FN Rock" which I thought was very sweet. The "F" word by the way is very common in Victoria. I heard it a lot just walking down the street! Not that I care, I thought it was interesting though.

Guitars: Norda is now playing an Ovation! My other guitar! (I have a 12 string Ovation). Hers looks a little smaller, her Washburn was small too, she is a very tiny gal. Paul played guitar on "Are You Sitting Comfortably" but he’s so tucked out of the way, you don’t notice it right off. I forget where Norda does guitar, she’s fast and professional switching. Norda WAS a skoesh off beat once, and so was Graeme, but it went by quickly each time. Strangely the Gibson 335 sounded better in Victoria than any other night. Maybe they changed an amp.

Lights: were wasted at the outdoor shows, but wonderful at the indoors. Not sure which I like better, they all have their worth. The American flag (at the end of "Higher and Higher") was left out of the slideshow for the Canadian show (makes sense). They used magenta to start with, and I hate magenta. Why won’t they use purple? The geodesics changed to gyroscope rings for the Canadian show too, during "Lean on Me". I had to laugh, the slide that was up prior to the show was the promo shot of the three Moodies, and these sparkles of light were shooting out from them a bit like the star screensavers on many computers. They looked like sperm to me, and I bet the Moodies thought of that too. Well, so long as the kids don’t get it, it’s cool. It was very relaxing to watch, actually, and a bit erotic. The slideshow really was on a computer, because the menu came up after the Victoria show. Ok I’m going to say it. I thought some of the slideshow was pretentious.

Airshows: All sorts of things overhead! some hot air balloons came over one of the outdoor shows (Seattle?) floating behind the stage, and while everyone was pointing, Justin leaned down like he was going to see too! Ahah they missed it. Oh well they were just balloons, but a fun bit. On the ferry, I watched the seaplanes take off over us from Victoria, one with a pitot tube hanging bent down. Remind me not to get in one of those! Venus (the evening star) wasn’t a visible as I thought it would be (peeked through the trees a bit), and the Moon wasn’t with us. I woke up at 3 am and found a late crescent.

Clothes again: The Jays almost always changed shirts at Intermission. I’m glad they do Intermission and hope they keep it in. It sure cuts back on the traffic to the potty box, and everyone can drink all the water they want that way and stay hydrated.

Intro: whomever is doing the introduction at the beginning has a VERY seductive voice. Nice job.

Moon Child [Luthien Tinuviel]: Waving silver wands to the night bird’s song….. Waiting for a smile from a Sun Child. Hey so far the tour has been during the Sun Sign of Cancer. Moon Child is another term for people born under the sign of Cancer, which in the 60’s sounded terrible to astrologers, so they came up with the more poetic term. I have lots of Moon Child in my chart (when I take off the electric blue Aquarian sunglasses, I turn into the Moon Child), that tee shirt was just too tempting, and perfect to my tastes. The more I look at it, the more I like it, and I think I’ll frame it. Back in the late 60’s there was a Moody Clone group called King Crimson, their first album was Court of the Crimson King. My friends and I had a favorite on there, "Moon Child" which they always told me was MY song, for some reason. The lunatic laugh and vague stare, I suspect. A great song, Justin probably wishes he'd written it, it’s Moody-ish song, sorta bluesy and Southern. It was all about running around at night, scampering in the wet grass barefoot, which we did a lot as teenagers. My only complaint is the paint on the tee split a bit under pressure; anyway I dig the tee, one of the better ones I’ve seen at the concession stand. First Lakshmi, now the Moon Child. What could be next?

Justin: seemed very matter of fact, no rave up this week. He might change next week. He was chatting with some folks in the front row this time, very relaxed, I was super impressed. In fact he was almost jolly! That’s nice to see.

John: NEEDS MORE SLEEP.

Ray: OOOO I almost forgot. One of my friends passed on the really reliable rumor that Ray settled down with a gal he met on line (I forgot her name, it's not a secret), and was happy as a clam. I knew that Ray had dated some gals from on line, I hadn't kept up with it. Well, I'm happy for Ray!

According to Lost Chords, War of the Worlds stage show is traveling to Australia, but there is no definitely word on whether Justin will be in it this time. So keep your antennae up for that news. pbaub muttered about a Spring 2008 Tour for the Moodies in Florida ALSO NOT CONFIRMED. According to an article in the Kitsap Sun (whoo a shocker there!) Justin says he is working on cleaning up (for CD sale) their 1970 performance at the Isle of Wight. That should be good, I look forward to it!

I was a good girl this time, didn’t drink too much, and thereby had a nicer time (more natural energy, I don‘t do caffeine or other uppers); I didn’t get angry, didn’t fall on my butt dancing. I’ve become a health nut I guess, drinking vitamin water, and eating right. I’m on foot a lot, wearing off the pounds. So, again another Moody adventure ends for me, and I hope you see them somewhere along The Way. Say it with love, and moonlight, Christie

PS I finally went over to Traveling Eternity Road, and rather enjoyed it, they have a LOT of good article links, and not too much BS. I found this quote someone had blogged: I am yours as the last little star is the night's, even though the night may be scarcely aware of it and have no knowledge of its glimmer. (Rilke) I love Rilke, so this is a good place to sign off. See you sometime again, love, Tigger
