ADDING FLAKE OR PEARL TO FINAL COATS
OF ACRYLIC ENAMEL
After finishing 2 or 3 coats of acrylic enamel (mixed with reducer and
hardener properly) and you are satisfied that the vehicle is painted properly,
then do the following:
Leave the
remaining mixture of paint/reducer/hardener in the spray cup.
Properly
mix clear with hardener, according to label directions.
Add pearl
or flake to part of the clear mixture. Stir
thoroughly. (Save enough clear
mixture without pearl/flake for the final step, below.)
Add
mixture of clear/hardener/pearl-flake into remaining paint/reducer/hardener
mixture and apply two coats of this mix of mixtures...wet on wet, just as if it
were the original paint.
Apply at
least one more coat of plain clear/hardener over the top, wet on wet...so that
you can buff the clear if necessary, without scratching the pearl/flake.
Wait at
least 12 hours before buffing.
