SO, YOU MAY ASK, HOW DID I GET HERE ANYWAY?

Well, much like those links up there, it was a case of 'one thing leads to another'.

I met this person, who was soon to become a very good friend, in Yahoo chat. We started chatting on-line, and that eventually led to talking on the phone. He'd been through a lot in his life -- learned a lot about life the hard way. Because of what he had been through, he'd contemplated doing bad things to himself. He was very secretive -- and would not give me his phone number -- he always called me. And I never knew when that would be. I sometimes thought that I would never hear from him again. I always wondered if that phone call was the last one. For the first three months that I knew of him, I did not know his name, nor did I know how to reach him. He would call me when he wanted to talk. And talk we would. Sometimes, we would spend the day together on the phone. The conversations would cover all kinds of things: from soup to nuts. He did not hold back any part of himself, including the most important part. His walk with the Lord. He would share bible passages with me. And to me, someone in the darkness, I would still patiently listen. All the while, the gears in my mind that had developed over many years would process what he was saying. I didn't necessarily agree. But I also knew that arguing would be useless. He was convinced of what he spoke. Eventually, trust developed. He gave me his phone number after also telling me his name. He shared with me a place he would spend his mornings. After he woke up, and had started his tea, he would read verses in the Bible. Once this was done, he would join Christian chat in Yahoo. He would have conversations with many different people -- but would not suffer fools gladly. He invited me to come in one morning in October 1998, join in with him and some of his friends. So I did. Since then, pretty much every morning starts off the same way. I get up and do my various morning rituals .. and for at least a half hour .. and sometimes 3 or 4 hours, it includes talking to people in Christian chat. These people have come to mean a lot to me. They have imprinted on me in a variety of ways, and I cherish the time we spend together. I would like you to meet them.
