Utilizing a much appreciated offer from the university, library board members and concerned citizens have designed a strategic plan for the future of the library with the guidance of Mr. Randy McBroom, assistant to Dr. McFarland for planning and institutional effectiveness.  The library board has appointed six standing committees to meet the goals identified in the strategic plan.  These committees are the nominating committee, facilities committee, finance committee, program committee, literacy committee, and marketing committee.  If you are interested in serving on any of these committees or of being nominated for the board, please contact Gayle Gordon at 903-886-6858.

Search From Home!

Did you know that you can now access the Commerce Public Library card catalog from your home computer?  With a generous grant funded by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, we have upgraded our catalog system to better serve our patrons.  By accessing the catalog on the library's website at www.oocities.org/commercepubliclibrary/index, you can easily browse our collections to see what is available and also view up to date information regarding the library.

Texshare

A program that is available at the library and also funded by a grant from the Texas State Library is the TexShare Databases, provided exclusively for library patrons in Texas.  Accessible from the library or from your home, this statewide program gives immediate free access to over fifty online commercial databases that include topics of health, business, homework, current events, genealogy, history, science and technology, and literature.  To use the database at www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/ you must have a current, fine free library card.  A login password and pin are also required and can be obtained at the library.  This website hosts a great wealth of information for all ages.
