Florida Short Courses |
This review course was first presented in the Fall of 1999, as
a review for the geologist examination prepared and distributed
by the Association of State Boards of Geologists (ASBOG).
Statistics from the testing organization show only about half
of the examinees nationwide are successful. The instructors in
this course provide a focused review of the subjects most strongly
emphasized on the ASBOG exam. Experience indicates that any person
registering for the ASBOG and any associated State exams should
complete this or a similar review course. A unique feature of this course is the testing. It has been demonstrated in many commercial preparatory courses that improved test-taking skills and reduced test anxiety can result in improved scores. Timed tests using the ASBOG format allow the participants to reuse and sharpen these talents. In addition, specific areas of weakness can be identified by this method and indicate topics that may need special attention before taking the ASBOG exam. |

This review course focuses on the knowledge and skills which, in our opinion, will be tested to assess competence for professional practice. We are confident exam candidates will benefit from our review course. The course instructors have no prior knowledge of direct examination questions, and have made no attempt to gain such information. The study of fundamental geologic principles, and training in practical problem solving, will best prepare candidates for the ASBOG exam. Florida Short Courses makes no guarantee, expressed or implied, that a candidate taking this course will pass this or any similar exam. |
