Here's what you are to do:

  • Finish the food log.

Calorie King Database

Candy Database

  • Add up your calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
  • Look at your numbers. Your fat amounts should be less than 30% of your total intake in g. Your protein needs depend on your age and gender - check this link: Recommended Daily Allowances, and look at the protein column.

Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) - From the National Academy of Sciences, 1989. This is a table that you can use to look up your RDA for protein.

  • How does your diet stack up? Are you getting enough protein? Too much? Too much fat? Did you eat many green vegetables? Answer the questions at the end of the food log sheet.
  • Set up your lab notebook for tomorrow's lab. To do the lab you need to have your notebook ALL set up.

If you finish everything, do this stuff:

Think about digestion. Where does it start? Now go to this web page: 10 Reasons....

Look up the word masticate in this online dictionary. (Go with definition number 1.) Then chew on this: Prehension, Mastication, Swallowing.

Read this page about enzymes. What are enzymes? What do they do?

All done? Want a good laugh? Here's a picture of Mr. A. in the 8th grade (he's the handsome devil on the right).
