The Lover Phil

The Greek philos means loving. These terms combine the prefix phil- with another Greek word to mean "a person who loves (blank)."

philadelphian - person who expresses brotherly love

philanthropist - person who loves mankind and works for its
     welfare

philatelist - person who collects (loves) stamps

philharmonic - a group that loves music

phillumenist - person who collects matchbook labels

philobiblist - person who loves books

philogynist - a lover or admirer of women

philologist - person who studies (loves) language and literature

philomath - person who loves learning

philoprogeneity - the love of one's children

philosopher - person who loves wisdom


Fearful Phobia

The Greek phobos means fear. These terms combine another Greek word with the suffix -phobia to mean "a fear of (blank)."

acrophobia - fear of heights 

agoraphobia - fear of open spaces (fear of the marketplace) 

ailurophobia - fear of cats

androphobia - fear of man or men (males) 

arachnophobia - fear of spiders 

chromophobia - irrational fear of certain colors 

claustrophobia - fear of narrow or enclosed spaces 

cynophobia - morbid fear of dogs 

dermatapathophobia - morbid anxiety about the skin and its diseases 

entomophobia - irrational fear of insects 

ergophobia - fear of work 

Francophobia - fear of the French or France

gynecophobia - fear of woman or women (females) 

herpatophobia - fear of snakes 

mysophobia - fear of dirt or germs

nyctophobia - fear of darkness 

ochlophobia - morbid fear of crowds 

ophidiophobia - fear of snakes

pantophobia - irrational fear of everything 

phobophobia - fear of fear 

sophophobia - fear of learning 

trisksidekaphobia - irrational fear of number 13 

xenophobia - fear of strangers or foreigners
