Freiman's Missive to the populace

Sixth Edition

(Long Time, No Hear...)

Greetings, First let me apologize for the tardiness of this missive... I have never been very good with schedules.

The reason I haven't written lately is that I simply haven't been playing. I have been stuck here in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but drink, work out and ski. I have been working as a substitute junior high teacher, and I actually seem to be good at the job.

I have made some rather remarkable changes since I've been here. I still have my hair, but I think that I will be losing it as soon as all this snow melts. We have about two feet of snow on the ground here, and anything is acceptable as long as it keeps you warmer. There is a big difference between the little college town I lived in, and the foreward deployment area of Rose Barracks. I don't feel any "Pressure" to cut my hair, but the people who have long hair are different here than in Oxford. In Oxford, the guy with long hair might be a celebrated author, a skilled Pharmacist, or even a lawyer, judge or doctor. Here, most of the "long hairs" are dishwashers who deal drugs to the G.I.'s. I am reall considering whether I want everybody I meet to subconsciously group me in with them. The hair is longer than I have ever had it in my life, and boy it looks pretty.

I have made a change in the way I play guitar. I have been playing in an Irish Tuning (DADGAD) and rarely tune my guitars back to "standard". I have played a a few gigs here in Germany, but without the economic incentive, (that is, were not dead broke), I really am not knocking myself out to get more. I also think the music has gotten better, and my wife agrees.

I bought a BMW 520i and hit the Autobahn. It goes very fast, but needs tires.

I keep forgeting to include this. There is a guy in Memphis who has a Professional quality Video of me and my old band Playing in a Memphis Nightclub. If you happen to be interested, e-mail me. I haven't seen the video, but they tell me it's good. Everybody in the band (except me) is old, so this might be my last chance...

All my legion brothers and sisters have an opportunity here. If you plan on traveling to Europe (and you should), you now have a house bbrother who can help out on this side of the pond. Don't get me wrong, I am not inviting the entire household to come over and party at my house. I don't love you guys that much, almost, but not quite. What I do offer is a place to regroup. Touring is very, very tiring. It help to have someplace to relax, have a bath in a US style shower, use a washing maching, and mail home the six foot claymore you bought in Glasgow and would otheriwse would have to lug around for the rest of the trip. I also know all the cheap places to ski in this section of Europe.

Oh, yeah, If anybody knows how I can make MP3's, so we can post "legion songs" on the legion web page, let me know.

Also, some friends of mine have set up "college funds" for one of their members' newborn baby. Each of them gives up about eight bucks a month, and the kid gets US Savings Bonds in the mail. It was a community theatre group here who does it, and the guy who set it up used the occasion of the Birth to sign everybody up. If any of ya'll are interested, let me know.

While we're on the subject of money, cash is a great gift to give the household. Kane and Illyssa "eat" a lot of the costs involved in the house activities. A lot of us enjoy it, and not all of us can give at all. None of us can give all the time, but some of us can give some of the time.

Please drop me a line. and send me pictures.
