Whew! What a week...

from Bri

The War is over. We were rained on, sunburned, hungover (no comments from the peanut gallery, here), and blistered our feet, but hopefully everyone is back safe.

I have a long, long list of thanks here, so bear with me.

First, to Viscountess Susanna for helping to herd Her Maj the entire week while I was madly trying to get visiting Royals from the airport to the site, find flashlights for security, and retrieve forgotten luggage. Her effort was truly herculean, and I am sure Her Maj will echo my deepfelt thanks. Thanks also to LADY Azra, Chendra and Sheena for Ilissa-duty.

Thanks to everyone who toted, set up and took down BOTH sets of thrones. Everything got everywhere on time. And to Gundar for yet ANOTHER set of CB coronets.

My special deepfelt gratitude to Lachlann and Tomalnatch and company who showed up for KWWFP and ran out leather groin protectors for all the women that were short. You were great, and the practice could NOT have been a success without you. I was touched and humbled by it all. Ariel and Mad Alex made gambesons as well, and I am grateful for their help, even though they managed to shoot me in the back with a ballista - No, girls, I thought it was funny, and I am far more grateful than angry! Her Majesty, Stephan, Moose, Arlain, and many others I cannot remember also sent their armor down, risking loss and damage, and I cannot ever thank you all for making the practice a tremendous success. Thanks to SIR Connor, who did all the paperwork (and Sir Camric, who brought all the paperwork) and made me "official". The big grins on the women who got in armor for the first time brought tears to my eyes. Sir Rey, Sir Loric, and Master Korwyn, along with many other knights I don't even know, showed up and lent their skills to help rank newbies, and they are shining examples of their Peerage.

Big kudos to Lady Susanna, Lady Aislinn, Anastasia, Talon and others who came down to prepare and help clean-up after Royal Dinner. Countess Rhiannon was overworked and you were an enormous help.

Thanks to Ariadne, who pulled regalia, and to Kelsyn and Andross, errand runners extraordinaire, and to Robert, who hauled me around in his big truck all weekend - my legs thank you.

The Legion had much to be very, very proud of this weekend. As some of us "old timers" get pulled away to other pursuits, for the Principality and Kingdom, it is comforting to see the next generation step up to fill our places and keep the Legion alive and growing. I am very proud of you all. If I have missed anyone at all in these thanks, it is only because I had an overabundance of helping hands, and in my confused state, my memory fails.

I am sure Her Maj will catch everybody I have missed, and Her post is soon to follow.

Very special thanks to Ilissa, who has given me the ride of my life. I think I am ready to get off now ;-)

Bri.
