Hollywood's Newest Heartthrob

Josh Hartnett drapes his 6 foot 3 inch frame over a chair in a posh suite in a Beverly Hills Hotel, lights up a cigarette, and eyes his interviewer wearily." Forgive me for my lack of energy." he says in a deep voice. "I'm very tired."
No kidding. For the past few months leading up to the release of this summers megamovie pearl harbor, Hartnett, 22, has been doing nonstop publicity.
The buzz is that this flick will make him a big star....and not just the flavor of the month kind. With a slew of near hits under his belt, and an ounce of fame teasing his taste buds, josh says humbly, " I've been lucky." The road to Hollywood began for josh in a community theatre in Minneapolis where he grew up, and continued with a short stop at the state university of new york at purchase. 8 months after that he headed to tinseltown. In just one year he was cast in films such as Halloween H2O: 20 years later, The Faculty, and the Virgin Suicides..opposite Kirsten Dunst.
Now single after living with Polish actress Izabella Miko, Josh offers his uncensored opinions on the perils of his budding fame, and what makes a woman sexy.

C: Your character in Pearl Harbor is involved in a love triangle. Ever been in one yourself?

JH: One of the first girls I had a crush on was my best friends ex-girlfriend. It wasn't really a love triangle but there was definitely some animosity between us guys for awhile. But it turned out alright.

C: Describe your ideal woman.

JH: I have a thing for foreign girls- their beautiful accents and lifestyles that are so different from mine.

C: Do you ever date your co-stars?

JH: It's hard for me to work closely with someone and not fall in love with them as a person. When you do movies you meet people who you become practically intimate with.

C: So how do you keep your feet on the ground when your constantly surrounded by stars?

JH: I take it for what it is. I'm lucky to be where I am and I don't go off the deep end. I also have a good family to keep me in check.

C: Isn't it tempting for a single guy in Hollywood to use being an actor to his benefit- with all the starlets and the notorious nightlife?

JH: I don't live in L.A. I live in Minnesota. I come here for the work and then I go back home.

C: What do you do in Minnesota?

JH: I snowboard, visit my friends, and jam with my family. My little sisters, two little brothers, and my dad all play instruments and I kind of play too. We get together and make music.

C: Pearl Harbor is supposed to make you the next big heartthrob. Do you like the label?

JH: I laugh at it. I know that I've gotten alot of breaks because of the way I look. But I try to back that up with talent.

C: Do people recognize you on the street yet?

JH: Some people come up to me but I just continue to live my life. I just want to do good work, and if people love it, that's great.

C: Is that the hardest part about being famous?

JH: If it ever gets to a point where I can't walk down the street in peace that'll be a drag, because I like to see the world the way it is and not from the balcony of a hotel.
