July

Develop presentation navigation script [July 15 – 31]

Aim: This script will allow users to choose different style sheets. The function will change the audio and visual presentation of the content.

Time: 96 hours.

Resources: Access to a Coldfussion server.

Status: Developed three different methods to dynamically load style sheets.
See conclusion week 1 to 3 research.

Testing: Upload prototype page with visual style sheets and test online. Advertise site through online developers forums. Ask a variety of users to test page.

August

Develop Aural Style Sheets [Aug 1 – 23]

Aim: Produce three Aural Style Sheets. Each aural style sheet renders the page content in a different manner.

Time: 128 hours

Resources: Access to IBM based computers or platforms. I will need access to a variety of audio browsers and screen reading software.

Status: Have downloaded Aural Style Sheet section of the CSS2 standard and familiarised myself with the code.

Testing: Add aural style sheets to prototype page and test online. Ask a variety of non-visual users to test page.

Record Audio Narration [Aug 24 – 31]

Aim: Produce pre-recorded audio for whole web site.

Time: 40 hours

Resources: Access to a recording studio and engage professional voice actors.

Status: Know how to stream audio files using flash, able to control flash files using javascript confident in a recording studio.

Testing: Add audio narration to prototype page and test online. Ask a variety of non-visual and visual users to test page.

September

Develop Graphics for site [September 1-8]

Aim: To produce cartoons and visuals for site that enhance the text content of the site.

Time: 32 hours

Building (Visual) Cascading Style Sheets [September 9-15]

Aim: To produce three different linked Cascading Style Sheets. Each style sheet will present the page in a unique visual style.

Time: 40 hours

Testing: Add Cascading Style Sheets to prototype page and test online. Ask a variety of visual users to test page.

Status: Produced prototype visual cascading style sheet and successfully tested it on a number of (Mac) browsers.

Compiling Site/Testing and Evaluation [September 16-30]

Aim: All the components have now been developed and tested. The next step is to compile the complete site. After the site has been compiled the process of testing and evaluation begins.

Time: 88 hours

Resources: Test project on Macintosh and PC computers using wide variety of browsers.

Testing: Publicise the completed site and ask a variety of visual users to test page.

Status: Have developed crude mock up pages in HTML format and tested on variety of browsers on a Macintosh computer.

October

Field Testing and Evaluation/Usability Testing [October 1-18]

Aim: Allow users to test and evaluate complete site. Based on user experience make necessary changes, modify site and retest.

Time: 104 hours

Resources: Targeted individuals to test and give feedback to site.
Final modifications and presentation of completed project [October 19-31]

Aim: Make final modifications and present completed project.

Time: 72 hours
