Here is some miscellaneous information on Lantis that I felt didn't fit in the other sections.


Name Origins:

Lantis
Like all the characters on Magic Knight Rayearth, Lantis gets his name from a car model... In his case, Lantis was named after a Mazda 5-door sedan (the Mazda Lantis is the European version of the Mazda Protege).

Kail
As aforementioned, in Cephiro, a Kail (or Kailu, in Japanese) is a Mahou Kenshin, which literally translates into English as "Magic Swordsman".

I haven't been able to find any Japanese origins for this term, but it is interesting to note that in Escaflowne, they use a similar title; the Knights Kaili(sp?), of which Allen Schezar is a part of. This makes me wonder if there is indeed an old archaic Japanese term as kail, meaning a knight or swordsman of some sort... Or if it's just some amazing coincidence. ^_~


Voice Actors:

As noted before, Lantis has the same voice actor(s) as Zagato; probably to accentuate their relationship as brothers... (It is also interesting to note that both Princess Emeraude and Eagle Vision share the same voice actors as well, I believe... Hmmm... ^_~)

Jurota Kosugi (Japanese, series & OAV)

Sometimes spelled as Juurouta or Yuurouta; perhaps the most notable of his voice credits is the manipulative, seductive Akio from Utena.
