Trying to have past life experiences

(Steppenwolf's recommendations)
When investigating your past lives, you can go two ways. The simplest way to find out about your past lives is to work with a regression therapist of course - and the www.iarrt.org website is usually a good place to track down a good person in your area. Results aren't guaranteed but it's definitely worth trying. The problem is that most people don't get wonderful results in their first few sessions, and each session can be quite expensive.

Otherwise you can save costs by trying to do your own work, which requires dedication but is very rewarding indeed. Note that the techniques below will help toward the goal of having past life dreams plus the exercises all help you become a better subject for a past life regression.

Candle-staring (a yoga technique known as "tratak")

For 30 days, try staring at a candle for 10 minutes before going to bed (it's also important to suppress all conscious thoughts). This does a raft of very beneficial things including intensifying your dreams - plus the thought suppression gradually stops your conscious mind interfering when past life dreams come through. (This technique has worked for me.) The candle should be roughly arm's length from your eyes and you should relax as much as possible and even enter a trance state. The results compound over time, so it really needs to be done regularly for at least a month to have a significant effect.

Chi energising

I would highly recommend doing Robert Bruce's New Energy Ways on a daily basis. It is a bit complicated to get into with the energy body stimulation exercises, but after three weeks or so, it becomes very very simple as you can by that stage skip most of the stimulation exercises and simply work on drawing in energy - and more and more each time. Doing this technique on a daily basis does the following: And for me it made me see occasional slowly points of light moving in the air when I was relaxed - which I have surmised as being spirits. This was probably the starting signs of full psychic vision.

Even ten minutes of energy work before getting up each morning is for me the equivalent of a cup of magic coffee. When you get good, you just feel so much more awake with all that new energy. And best of all - nobody can tell what you are doing, as it's all done using the mind.

I cannot recommend New Energy Ways highly enough - though you do have to remember to follow the instructions exactly and not do as I did and decide that I could do it any old way I liked, otherwise you may find you get mild energy problems, headaches etc. Doing it as per the instructions is quite safe I believe, though the one proviso is that it may be potentially troubling for people with mental disorders.

"No thought" meditation

Now - the next one is to allow your conscious mind, the part that is always chattering away to quieten down. The problem with this part of your mind is that it will take a transcendental dream of a past life and swap all the real characters for people you know in this life and change the scene to today's world. This I believe can explain a lot of strange dreams which are quite vivid and memorable and seem significant, except that they concern workmates etc. The best way I would recommend for stilling the conscious mind is to do some "no thought" meditation - either in bed in the morning or better still before you go to bed - probably best for having past life dreams. It sounds very difficult but once you try, you can make it up to one minute, then later two minutes, etc without really thinking too much.

One focus which might help with the no-thought meditation is a Higher Self connection technique

Another thing which might help too is downloading and listening to the Abyss track, which is great to help with no-thought meditation. A simple way to fit this into a normal day is to set your alarm clock an hour early and listen to the one-hour track in bed before you get up.

Prayer / subconscious programming

Last but not necessarily least, I would strongly suggest praying to whoever you like (or to your higher self) every night for help discovering more about your past life. (This has been sheer dynamite for me identifying who I feel I was.)

Also you should say to yourself before you go to bed "Tonight I want to have a dream about a past life!" - which programs the subconscious to do this. Fix a post-it note next to your bed to remind yourself. In the world of dreams, subconscious programming does work.
