Antelope Valley Libertarian Party

To the readers, and to the editor, of the Country Journal:

Recently, Congressman Howard McKeon, in the face of opposition from voters, voted to bail out billionaire bankers who used the Federal Reserve Bank to enrich themselves at your expense, and to increase the power of the Executive branch of the Federal government.

The bill for which he voted: HR3997 Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, contained in Section Eight the following thirty-two words:

"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

This bill, if passed, would have given the Secretary of Treasury the legal power to regulate financial matters without any oversight from Congress, or from the Judicial branch of the Federal government, or from you.

This bill proposed to give $700,000,000,000 in taxpayer money to bankers to prop up failing financial institutions at your expense.

George Bush wanted this bill to pass. On 29 September, Howard McKeon voted with 140 Democratic Congressmen and 64 other Republican Congressmen to give Bush what he wanted.

The bill failed.

When you vote in November, remember that Howard McKeon voted to bail out his billionaire banker buddies at your expense. Howard McKeon voted to buck you at your expense. Howard McKeon vote to decrease your freedom.
