Dear Editor:

I love Scott Nazzarine's idea regarding federal campaign matching funds in The Pulse (3/00 LPN). Returning the money to taxpayers along with an inexpensive single sheet enclosure would double its campaign value by also generating a lot of press coverage. The credibility of the mailer would be enhanced by actually giving the money back to the taxpayers.

Imagine an enclosure that said:

Libertarians believe that you know better what to do with your money than government politicians and bureaucrats. Here is your dollar back. A Libertarian federal government would not take it from you in the first place.

A Libertarian federal government would be limited to its constitutional functions and, hence, be so small that uniform "imposts, excises and duties" will suffice for its defense and judicial functions. The first order of business of a Libertarian federal government is the elimination of the IRS and its income tax, followed closely by the elimination or privatization of hundreds of other counterproductive agencies and programs.

Unfortunately, like every federal program, some of your money was skimmed by the federal bureaucracy. In this case, it was the first class mail monopoly known as the U.S.P.S., which is one of the agencies we would privitize.

Imagine all the angles that could be incorporated into such a mailer.
