Dear Letters Editor: Here is another example of regulatory cost. Pep Boys could charge $51/hour for vehicle service instead of $64/hour were it not for the cost of complying with the reporting and other useless requirements of the Bureau of Automotive Repair Consumer Affairs Division. Intelligent people rely on reputation, not regulation. They ask around to find the best mechanic for the job. I went so far as to take my vehicle to a number of different shops to test their diagnostic skills and compare their repair estimates for known problems. CBS lost and Gary Wright won. I hope those of you who want government protection are happy with the value received for the $13/hour you effectively force the rest of us to pay to save you from you laziness and fear of dealing with businesses. Stop subsidizing indolence and stupidity. Vote Libertarian! Sincerely, Bill Holmes, Vice Chair Antelope Valley Libertarian Party P.O.
