Curtis William McKean (53060)Curtis MCKEAN was born in 1899 in Calliope, QLD, AUS. He was the seventh and youngest child of John Scott MCKEAN (1854-1916) and Margaret WANMER (1866-1956). Curtis enlisted in the AIF at Rockhampton, QLD in October 1917. His address and that of his mother at the time was given as Boyne Valley Line, Calliope, QLD. Curtis was assigned to the 41st Battalion and left Australia as part of the 2nd (Q) General Reinforcements. He embarked at Sydney per RMS Osterley in May 1918. Curtis proceeded to France in October 1918 with the 41st. From his service record, Curtis spent only a few weeks on the front before being hospitalised. Curtis was subsequently returned to Australia and discharged in May 1919. In 1924 Curtis married Constance WRIGHT at the Union Church, Calliope and they had three children. However Curtis passed away in October 1930 at only 31 years of age. References / Further Research:
