Shinesman is a very funny anime show that features Hiroya Matsumoto, your average all-around good guy. Recently employed by Rights Trading Company, he works hard in the sales division in order to take care of his litte brother Yota. His other job, however, is to protect the Earth from the evil likes of Prince Sasaki and Sekito, whose plans are bent on conquering Earth. How, you ask? Well, Hiroya and four other employees of Right Trading Company have the ability to transform into Shinesman, the ultimate superhero action-fighting team! Hiroya in red as leader and rookie, Ryoichi Hayami in Moss Green, Shotaro Ono in Sepia (yellowish), Riko Hidaka (the only girl in the group) in Salmon Pink (yes, salmon!), and Shojo Yamadera in Gray.
The first few episodes focuses on the introducing everyone and Hiroya coming into the team. Prince Sasaki and his litte sidekick Sekito are at it again. Both come from the Planet Voice (I believe) and have the ability to physically transform into human beings so that they can carry out their evil plans without anyone indentifying them. What's strange is though, that in their human form they converse and work with members of the Shinesman team without either side having knowledge of who each person actually is. But the aliens' plans are put on hold as Prince Sasaki's cousin, Princess Shina, arrives on Earth to inspect their progress. Princess Shina, too, has plans to conquer earth, but is in for a big surprise when she meets Hiroya in her human form. Shina automatically falls for him, and so matters are complicated more when neither Hiroya and Shina know who the other actually is.
Corporate executives saving the world?! You bet! Sure it sounds corny, and I too was skeptical at first, but I was in for a surprise. The show offered a lot creativity and ingenuity. The dubbing, music, and animation were all well done. The animation style (especially the eyes and face) bothered me a bit a first, but it grew on me. Shinesman parodies live action-fighting shows reminiscent of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" or even "Sailor Moon"! Be prepared to laugh outloud and have a good time.
